Wenger Tourmaster: choir risers for events at several venues
Compare step sizes, folding, carts and access before arranging a traveling choir package, installation or technical support.
Identification and use
Tourmaster is a folding choral-riser family intended for vocal groups indoors under normal ambient conditions. Its travel features help frame the logistics brief; the actual route, model and accessories still need to be checked for each venue.
Components and variants
- Three-step units
- 4 ft length: 024J642; 6 ft: 024J657. The current technical sheet specifies 18 in usable step depth.
- Accessories
- Corresponding fourth-step additions, backrails, siderails and transport carts are separate references. Backrails are recommended on all risers in the owner’s manual.
- Operating document
- Owner’s manual 024H636-06, 2026-05. Verify the supplied revision, latches and accessories against this document.
Plan the show
For a choir visiting several venues, compare taking one identified set with arranging suitable units at each venue. The decision includes loading, vehicle space, doors, elevators, storage and time for checks, alongside the performance layout.
We can assess a riser package, transport coordination or installation and AV support. A mixed standing and seated program may need a separate platform or room-level performance area; do not place chairs on choral steps by assumption.
A touring option concentrates identification and maintenance on one set, while local supply changes the delivery and inspection brief at each stop. Compare the complete schedule and handling arrangements rather than unit rental alone. Ask for a venue-by-venue equipment and responsibility list to see what remains consistent and what needs confirmation.
Preparation before use
- Identify unit length, fourth-step option, backrails, siderails and cart references; check inventory condition.
- Measure the complete transport arrangement and every venue access route, including loaded-cart dimensions and weight where applicable.
- Install on a flat, solid surface. Trained staff must confirm latch engagement and unit-to-unit connections using the exact instructions.
- Check fasteners and accessories before use; arrange handling, storage and removal away from performers and public.
Questions and solutions
- Should we travel with risers or arrange them at each venue?
- Can we reuse older Tourmaster units with new ones?
- The latch has clicked once. Is the riser ready?
- The riser rattles or neighboring units will not hook together. What next?
- Can we move a loaded cart with one person or store units on end?
- How do we add a fourth step or change the shape?
- What should we standardize when a choir performs at several venues?
- Can we hire risers together with sound, lighting or recording?
Should we travel with risers or arrange them at each venue?
Compare the confirmed set’s transport envelope, handling and inspection needs with a locally sourced documented arrangement. Send venue sequence and access constraints first. The least bulky unit is not necessarily the least costly complete solution once carts, rails and labor are included.
Can we reuse older Tourmaster units with new ones?
Do not assume compatibility from the family name. Identify labels, revisions, dimensions, connectors and condition of both sets, then request confirmation for the proposed combination. Keeping one documented set together may be an alternative if mixed generations cannot be resolved.
The latch has clicked once. Is the riser ready?
The current owner’s manual requires full engagement of the second lock and vertical rear legs; one click is insufficient. Keep the riser out of use if engagement is uncertain. Have trained staff follow the setup checks; do not hold a latch with improvised straps or bypass it.
The riser rattles or neighboring units will not hook together. What next?
Close and unload the affected arrangement. The manual directs checks of loose fasteners for rattling and unit-clamp position for connection problems. Have the supplier or trained technician compare the actual parts with the manual before adjustment, then reinspect. These checks do not establish a universal diagnosis or authorize use with a remaining defect.
Can we move a loaded cart with one person or store units on end?
The owner’s manual requires two people to move the loaded cart and warns against storing riser units standing on end. Use the loading order, restraints and limits for the correct cart. A doorway claim does not resolve elevator capacity, turning clearance, slope or vehicle access.
How do we add a fourth step or change the shape?
Use the corresponding documented accessories and reversal procedure, with the area unoccupied. The fourth-step option changes both working and transport arrangements and must be removed before folding, as the technical sheet specifies. Include protection, performer access and the altered footprint in the proposal; do not transfer Signature instructions.
What should we standardize when a choir performs at several venues?
Keep a shared brief with performer positions, conductor, intended riser arrangement, microphones and cues. Add a venue-specific sheet for doors, handling routes, supporting floor, storage and work windows. We can compare traveling with one documented set against local supply at each stop, separating transport, substitutions, installation and rehearsal costs. The common brief is a starting point, not proof that identical quantity or sound coverage works everywhere.
Can we hire risers together with sound, lighting or recording?
We can assess a combined technical package or support the choir’s existing AV team. Define whether the audience, a recording or a live feed is the priority and share the performance schedule. The quote can separate risers and installation from microphones, reinforcement, lighting, recording and operators, with availability and each supplier’s responsibility confirmed.
