Martin MAC One
Compact moving light for scene lighting and musical cues: define function, optics and programming before quoting.
Model and use
MAC One combines Fresnel optics, motorized zoom, main-beam and backlight effects. It is not MAC One Beam or MAC Aura: profiles, accessories and behavior must not be transferred. A tight beam or soft wash can be assessed for the actual placement.
Prepare your inquiry
- Date, venue, photos, approximate dimensions and existing fixtures. A final count is not required.
- What stays visible during awards and what changes for the musical entrance; cameras, screens and ambient light.
- Equipment, mounting, patch, cues, rehearsal or operation; accessories and availability need confirmation.
Tell us the use, date and venue, even if dimensions or the model are still undecided. We can assess rental, purchase, integration or technical support. Availability, configuration, accessories and scope are confirmed in the proposal.
Connections and components
- XLR DMX and Ethernet control: Art-Net, sACN or P3 according to the system. A network path does not replace a profile.
- Rev. C modes: Compact, Basic, Ludicrous and Compact Direct; select the actual version’s profile and footprint.
- 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz; maximum 180 W in Rev. C. IP20 for dry locations. Confirm current documentation before installation.
Prepare the system
- Identify exact MAC One, firmware, lens/accessories and clear head travel; qualified mounting and safety are required.
- Isolate one unit and verify input, universe, mode, address, dimmer, color and zoom before grouping.
- Prepare steady formal and musical entrance cues separately. Rehearse positions, transitions and the return with actual cameras and content.
Proposed scenario
Awards: formal presentation and musical entrance
We can assess movement and accents while retaining separate face light when stability is needed. Another position or a broader wash may suit the throw and ambient light better.
Define equipment, control, cue preparation and operator in the proposal. This is a possible design, not proof that one fixture covers the stage or cuts through an LED screen.
Questions and answers
Can it be front light and a musical effect?
Assess alternating use if the script allows that light to move or change. If a person must stay lit, compare steady front light with separate effects. Share movement and moments; rehearse the change and return.
Is it the same as MAC One Beam or MAC Aura?
No. Verify the label and exact profile. This page covers MAC One with Fresnel and zoom. Review optics, modes and accessories before accepting a substitution.
Does a dark backlight mean failure?
Check mode and Backlight in Compact Mode, documented in Rev. C, first. Test with the exact profile and known effect state. Do not copy MAC Aura channels or erase calibration for diagnosis.
What if zoom jams during rapid changes?
Record firmware, error and cue. HARMAN documents rapid-snap jamming corrected in v1.1.1 or later; verify applicability before acting. Schedule updates and testing outside the show with a responsible technician. Persistent trouble needs support, not forced movement or repeated resets.
What changes with network control?
Define protocol, universe, addressing and data path, including who configures the network. Test one unit and its profile before cues. P3 and its mixing functions are not assumed necessary or included for DMX cue playback.
Do effects need haze?
Define whether the goal is an aerial beam, lit surface or visible fixture. We can assess a design without atmosphere where it is prohibited. Atmosphere needs venue approval and testing; additional power alone does not guarantee a visible aerial beam.
Precautions
- IP20 dry indoor locations, away from rain or moisture. Protected, properly sized non-dimmed power.
- Qualified personnel must validate structure, hardware and secondary safety; allow full movement and the current manual’s clearances.
- Do not stare into the source or open the fixture. Isolate power and cool before handling accessories; persistent errors require service.

Guides for choosing
Useful terms
DMX: control data; the profile defines the channels. Firmware: software on the unit. Mode: functions and footprint selected on the fixture; it must match the console patch.
