Using this guide
Names describe families or uses, without guaranteeing identical accessories or functions. LED describes the source, not beam shape.
Prepare your rental inquiry
- Date, city, venue and setup, event and pickup schedule.
- Intended use, area dimensions and equipment already supplied by the venue or production.
- Visual goal and problem to solve; venue plan or identified photos if available.
- Decisions already agreed with venue, production and video to assess a suitable solution.
Specify equipment only or whether setup, programming, operation and strike are also needed. Scope is confirmed in the proposal.

Features and connections
A profile can project and frame through its optics; Fresnel favors soft edges and blending. PAR may use lenses or diffusers. Wash describes coverage; spot often supports projection and beam targets a narrow shaft. Hybrids exist.
Prepare the system
- Define whether you need faces, uniform area, a framed shape, gobo or aerial effect.
- Compare photometry at the actual distance, included optics, zoom, focus and shaping tools for the exact model.
- Confirm power, control, mounting and accessories in the rental proposal; test the intended surface and camera.
Questions and troubleshooting
Do barn doors replace profile shutters?
They are different shaping tools.
- Test the required edge on the actual surface; barn doors may limit spill without the same focused framing.
- To protect a screen or define a rectangle, check available shutters, rotation and focus before choosing.
Can a wash light a person?
It can if coverage, color and control suit the shot.
- Assess skin, shadows, distance and spill on the background. Do not assume every RGB wash provides suitable camera white.
- Compare the proposed alternative using the same framing, exposure and area.
Does every spot or beam include gobos and shutters?
A commercial name does not prove those functions.
- Check the variant’s manual and channel chart; distinguish gobo, iris, frost and shutters.
- Test the correct console profile before programming; a hybrid may behave differently by optical mode.
Precautions
- Do not compare useful light on the target through electrical wattage or lumens alone.
- A narrow beam can concentrate energy; follow manual clearances and restrictions without aiming at eyes.
- Confirm lenses, filters and supports are compatible and retained as the manufacturer specifies.
