ETC Source Four LED Series 3 Lustr X8

LED profile lighting for faces, lecterns and identity projection: choose the body, optics and control as a system.

Model and use

Lustr X8 is the eight-color Source Four LED Series 3 variant. Daylight HDR is a different tunable-white variant; the engines are not interchangeable identities. Framing shutters shape the beam, while the optic determines useful spread from the available position.

Prepare your inquiry

Tell us the use, date and venue, even if dimensions or the model are still undecided. We can assess rental, purchase, integration or technical support. Availability, configuration, accessories and scope are confirmed in the proposal.

Connections and components

Prepare the system

  1. Record variant, firmware, barrel, tube and accessories; qualified personnel must check mounting and safety attachments.
  2. Match the Series 3 Lustr X8 mode and profile, universe and address; reserve the full footprint. Test intensity and white/color on one fixture.
  3. Set position, focus and shutters on the actual lectern. Save the cue and check movement limits and camera shots.

Proposed scenario

A lit lectern with scenery that must remain dark

We can assess a profile with suitable optics and shutter focusing. If the presenter leaves the lectern, compare an additional area or separate light. The cut depends on placement and throw as well as the fixture.

For identity, decide between a suitable custom gobo and video projection. Fixture, optic, holder, preparation and rehearsal are scoped in the proposal; they are not assumed to be one kit.

Questions and answers

Lustr X8 or Daylight HDR?

Assess Lustr X8 for scenic color and a broad color palette including whites; compare Daylight HDR for tunable-white work. Decide with the required whites, colors, camera and useful output. Do not reuse the other variant’s profile.

Can I use the venue’s lens tube?

Identify the tube and barrel part numbers. ETC distinguishes XDLT from LT/EDLT; a similar appearance does not prove compatibility. Send photos and references so the complete assembly can be checked before quoting only a body.

How can I keep light off the scenery?

Set placement and tube focus first, then use the four shutters and secure the controls. Check with the presenter in place and through camera. If the geometry prevents the cut, assess another position or lighting zone; spill elimination is not guaranteed.

Why does DMX arrive but color or level differ?

Compare variant, firmware, mode, address and patch profile. Check the dimmer and color controls required by that mode before erasing settings. Isolate a unit with a known source and cable; a wireless link does not validate the patch.

Can it project a logo?

A suitable gobo and optic can be assessed. Send artwork, size, throw and surface, distinguishing a static mark from animated content. Fabrication, holder, focus and readability need confirmation; a screen or projector may better suit changing content.

How should we prepare camera and cue changes?

Test whites, exposure and transitions with actual camera settings, retaining the approved profile and cue. Allow time for focusing and rehearsal. Preparation or operation can be assessed alongside equipment; physical testing and artifact-free results are not claimed.

Documentation and help

Documentation consulted October 23, 2026. Official catalog: v1.4.0 manual Rev. A (11/2025) and v1.4.1 firmware note (04/2026). Preparation follows the Series 3 web manual; confirm installed firmware. Tests described here are proposed.

Guides for choosing

Useful terms

DMX: control data; the profile defines the channels. Firmware: software on the unit. Mode: functions and footprint selected on the fixture; it must match the console patch.
