Lighting and control

Elation Proteus Rayzor Blade L

Configure Rayzor Blade L wash, SparkLED and StrobeLine separately. Check personality, profile parts and behavior without signal.

Ask GLMedia about renting Elation Proteus Rayzor Blade L for your event. Availability and configuration are subject to confirmation.

Model and purpose

Manufacturer
Elation
Model
Elation Proteus Rayzor Blade L
Variant
Proteus Rayzor Blade L; PRR048
Power
100–240 VAC; 50/60 Hz
Maximum consumption
1400 W
Wash
12 RGBW emitters rated 60 W

Batten with motorized tilt, zoom and independent wash, lens sparkle and strobe systems. It supports beam curtains and pixel effects; the L version needs its own profile and does not automatically share the S channel map.

Prepare your rental inquiry

Specify equipment only or whether setup, programming, operation and strike are also needed. Scope is confirmed in the proposal.

You do not need a final equipment list: tell us the result you want and the part you need help with. Availability and scope are confirmed in the proposal.

Features and connections

SparkLED lights the lenses with 48 white LEDs; the 2 strobe lines contain 256 emitters. Physical emitters and logical control cells are different counts.

Provides DMX through XLR with 5 pins and Art-Net/sACN through RJ45. Wash power does not represent total consumption; check the circuit, cable and connectors for the whole fixture.

Prepare the system

  1. Check the label and grounded power without dimmer control. Qualified personnel must validate structure, clamps, Omega brackets and designated safety attachment; never attach a safety cable to a handle.
  2. Choose User Mode and an available personality matching the profile. In Function > Set Dmx Address, assign a start and reserve the full footprint below.
  3. In Personality > Select Signal, choose the protocol. For networking, match IP, mask and universe; the manual requires a Gigabit switch with IGMP. The included RJ45 cable is intended for fixture interconnection.

Questions and troubleshooting

Does wash work while SparkLED or strobe stays off?

The profile must represent the selected mode’s parts.

  1. Compare Main, Pixels, StrobeLine and SparkLED against that personality’s table. Do not substitute an S profile for L.
  2. Check each system’s dimmer and shutter. Setting an auxiliary strobe channel to 255 makes it follow Main dimming and strobe; that is different from independent control.
  3. Test a single static layer at a time with FX disabled. Check values and parts before concluding an LED has failed.
Do animations shift or look different between battens?

Pixel order, curve and offset change pattern behavior.

  1. Match orientation and Pixel Mapping; check that all units use the same mode.
  2. The guide requires selecting the curve before the pattern; power-up restores Sinewave. Record curve, FX selection and speed.
  3. Check offsets and randomization. StrobeLine Split omits the center cell; do not confuse that with a failed emitter.
Does it point downward or stop moving after signal loss?

Check Sun Protection and Hibernation before blaming tilt.

  1. Under No DMX Status, Sun Prot moves the optics to sun protection after approximately 3 minutes without data. Hibernation keeps the previous position.
  2. Automatic protection requires power. With the fixture off, point optics away from sunlight; do not rely on automatic movement.
  3. For an accelerometer error when side-hung, record firmware and error code. Elation lists a fix in V1.2.3 and warns that upgrading from 1.1/1.2 prevents downgrade; arrange service without a blind reset.

Quick reference

Footprint within a universe of 512 channels: last start = 512 − channels + 1. Modes follow DMX Traits; check firmware availability.
