Lighting and control
Chauvet Professional Rogue R2X Wash
Verify the exact personality and firmware, separate console positioning from homing, and compare DMX and local zoom control.
Ask GLMedia about renting Chauvet Professional Rogue R2X Wash for your event. Availability and configuration are subject to confirmation.
Model and purpose
- Exact model
- ROGUER2XWASH RGBW; not VW or Outcast
- Light engine
- 19 × 25 W RGBW; 5 control zones
- Angles
- Beam 7.3°–35.2°; field 11.2°–51.2°
- Movement / weight
- Pan 540°; tilt 230°; 10.3 kg
A moving wash for colored area coverage and patterns across grouped LED zones. Five zones do not provide independent control of every LED. Select coverage from the actual throw and photometry; the general zoom range of 7.3°–64.3° is not the same measurement as beam or field angle.
Prepare your rental inquiry
- Date, city, venue and setup, event and pickup schedule.
- Intended use, area dimensions and equipment already supplied by the venue or production.
- Desired effect, positions, throw, area and stage restrictions.
- Control profile, mounting accessories and camera coordination where needed.
Specify equipment only or whether setup, programming, operation and strike are also needed. Scope is confirmed in the proposal.
You do not need a final equipment list: tell us the result you want and the part you need help with. Availability and scope are confirmed in the proposal.
Connections and control
DMX/RDM uses 3- or 5-pin XLR. Power uses powerCON input/output and 100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz. Network universes belong to the console or external node feeding this DMX line; do not look for an Ethernet universe setting on this model. Use compatible rated cables and a matching fixture profile.
For camera work, Setup > PWM Option lists 600, 1200, 2000, 4000, 6000 and 15000 Hz. Compare recorded clips with fixed camera and dimmer settings before choosing an option. White Mode, Color Calibration and LED R/G/B/W POWER also affect matching; preserve their settings before comparing fixtures.
Prepare the patch
- Record Sys Info > System Information > Ver and the exact console profile. Set Run Mode > DMX and Address to match the patch. The manufacturer notes that V1.250715 corrected personality labels: if names differ, compare the actual channel map and seek model-specific support before applying a profile. A matching channel count alone is insufficient, including MS modes.
- Arrange protected, grounded power, DMX cable, the specified omega mounting hardware, rated clamps and a secondary safety cable for overhead use. Qualified personnel must verify the full assembly and movement clearance. Save the show and test one secured fixture at low output outside the live program.
Questions and troubleshooting
Why do the zones stay dark or fail to follow the intended colors?
First verify the complete personality name and mapping against the installed firmware. This proposed example applies only to the documented 56CH map.
- In 56CH, compare Dimmer 6 and Fine Dimmer 7 with output from the console; put Strobe 8 within 020–024 for steady light. Test zone 1 RGBW on 9, 11, 13 and 15 separately at moderate output. Channel numbers are relative to the start address.
- For a direct-color comparison use Color 49 = 000, Zone Selection 50 = 000, Programs 51 = 000 and Control 56 = 000. Those values select the documented no-effect/all-zone conditions. Recheck patch overlap before changing mode; do not transfer this map to 54CH or an MS personality.
Why does the head change position when I reconnect DMX?
The reset/home movement and the console’s requested position are different references. A change after data returns does not by itself establish a mechanical fault or a wrong home offset.
- Record the profile, default pan/tilt values, Pan Reverse, Tilt Reverse, Pan Angle and Tilt Angle. Compare the console’s actual DMX output and any active cue, programmer value or parked channel.
- If a local test works but console control does not, check the universe-to-output assignment at the console or node and compare with one known-good direct cable. Keep the movement area clear. Do not alter offsets or perform a factory reset just to make two reference positions agree.
The zoom sticks or makes a grinding noise. How can I isolate the problem?
Separate a missing command from a fault that persists under local control. A successful startup movement does not prove that zoom will follow every later command.
- With the fixture secured and clear of people, record the selected mode and compare its Zoom channel against the console output. For 56CH, Zoom is 55. In rehearsal, compare a gentle command with Run Mode > Manual Test > Zoom, preserving prior settings.
- If zoom fails locally too, or produces abnormal noise, stop the test and record the symptom and Sys Info data for qualified service. Do not press the lens, strike the fixture, open it, lubricate it or keep repeating resets. If only console control fails, return to mapping and data-path checks.

Operating precautions
- IP20: dry indoor use. Keep at least 50 cm free for ventilation. Maximum ambient is 45°C; minimum startup is −20°C and minimum operating ambient −30°C. These limits do not authorize outdoor use. Allow acclimation before applying power after large temperature changes.
- Keep eyes out of the light and avoid prolonged staring within 3.5 m as specified. Use protective earth and circuit protection, never an electrical dimmer supply. Qualified personnel must verify mounting, clamps and secondary safety. Stop on damage or a persistent fault; internal repairs belong to qualified service.
Terms on this page
- DMX
- A data protocol controlling lighting functions; each model defines what its channels mean.
- RDM
- Management communication for querying or configuring compatible equipment over a compatible path.
- PWM
- Modulation of LED output; interaction with a camera may produce recorded bands or variations.
- Patch
- Assignment of fixture, profile, address and universe in the control system.
