Astera QuikPunch
Prepare the QuikPunch Fresnel with manual zoom, a defined control source and recorded output and battery settings.
Ask GLMedia about renting Astera QuikPunch for your event. Availability and configuration are subject to confirmation.
Model and purpose
- Manufacturer
- Astera
- Model
- Astera QuikPunch
- Model
- QuikPunch AST-QUKPN; Titan LED Engine RGBMintAmber
- Optics
- Fresnel with manual 13°–60° zoom
- Power
- Battery or 100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz; TRUE1 In / Out
- Control
- XLR DMX, CRMX, RDM and AsteraApp through integrated BTB
A battery-powered Fresnel spot for people, spaces and scenery. The Titan RGBMintAmber engine provides white and color, while the removable yoke supports different mounting arrangements. QuikPunch is a distinct model from QuikSpot: check its accessories, power requirements and fastening before preparing the system.
Prepare your rental inquiry
- Date, city, venue and setup, event and pickup schedule.
- Intended use, area dimensions and equipment already supplied by the venue or production.
- Color, brightness and total powered time, including checks and waiting.
- Chargers or case, compatible control, placement and replacement plan.
Specify equipment only or whether setup, programming, operation and strike are also needed. Scope is confirmed in the proposal.
You do not need a final equipment list: tell us the result you want and the part you need help with. Availability and scope are confirmed in the proposal.
Features and connections
Zoom is manually adjusted over 13°–60°, with an additional mechanical stop at 30°. Respect the stops; do not force resistance at the front or try to adjust it from the console.
TRUE1 In / Out carries power and 5-pin XLR carries DMX; integrated CRMX and BTB serve different functions. Connecting the app to a bridge does not link a CRMX transmitter.
Enabled OutputGain favors event brightness; disabled mode favors color rendering. Datasheet color-rendering figures apply with OutputGain disabled. Plates, barndoors and PrepBox require compatible accessories.
Prepare the system
- Check charge, nameplate and firmware. A new fixture needs a few seconds connected to charging to leave shipping mode before it can turn on.
- Select Input Select and record the fixture’s DMX profile, address and footprint. Match the console personality; do not substitute another Astera model’s chart.
- Adjust zoom by turning the front with the area clear. Secure both sides of the yoke and accessories before testing output.
Questions and troubleshooting
Receiving DMX, but RGB does not change as expected?
First match the fixture profile to the console personality. Color mixing depends on the selected mode.
- For a simple check, profile 4 DIM RGB uses 4 channels: dimmer, red, green and blue. Raise dimmer to a moderate level and change a color at a time.
- Profile 89 D CCT GM CRO RGB uses 7 channels: dimmer, CCT, green/magenta, Crossfade, red, green and blue. Crossfade at 0 gives CCT; at 255 it gives RGB. Check this before blaming the radio link.
- These references use Pixel = 1 and Strobe = Off. If you enable other options, check the corresponding chart and recalculate the patch. An Emulated White channel in other profiles does not represent a separate white emitter.
Do brightness or color change after a reset?
Reset also changes settings that affect output and consumption.
- Compare OutputGain before and after. The manual associates enabled mode with greater brightness and disabled mode with improved color rendering.
- Check Input Select and Runtime: reset returns them to AUTO and 5 h. Record the intended configuration before clearing settings.
- Compare on the same surface and with the actual camera when relevant. Do not compensate for OutputGain by editing palettes before identifying the cause.
Short runtime, or does charging not begin?
Evaluate runtime, intensity and temperature together.
- Plan with a charged battery and actual output level. Published maximum runtime does not mean maximum brightness throughout that period.
- Check charging status on the display. If hot, switch off and allow cooling with ventilation; do not bypass protection or open the battery.
- Charge with the case open, under supervision and preferably at 15–35 °C. Do not store discharged; follow the manual’s battery maintenance.
Quick reference
| Profile | Channels / order | Last possible start |
|---|---|---|
| 1 RGB | 3: R, G, B | 510 |
| 4 DIM RGB | 4: Dimmer, R, G, B | 509 |
| 89 D CCT GM CRO RGB | 7: Dimmer, CCT, GM, CRO, R, G, B | 506 |
Precautions
- IP65, ambient 0–40 °C; do not immerse or use as a permanent installation. Maintain compatible connectors and protection.
- For suspension, attach the safety wire to the rear eyelet and limit potential drop to 20 cm as instructed. Installation requires qualified personnel.
- Keep 0.3 m from illuminated objects; avoid contact with hot surfaces and allow cooling before handling. Do not cover ventilation.
Terms on this page

- RDM
- Management communication for querying or configuring compatible equipment over a compatible path.
- Patch
- Assignment of fixture, profile, address and universe in the control system.
- Personality
- A control mode defining the channels and functions used by a fixture.
