Lighting and control

Aputure Sidus One

Prepare Sidus One by separating Wi-Fi, CRMX and Sidus Bluetooth; check universe, TX/RX role and DMX adapter.

Ask GLMedia about renting Aputure Sidus One for your event. Availability and configuration are subject to confirmation.

Model and purpose

Manufacturer
Aputure
Model
Aputure Sidus One
Model
Sidus One; distinct from Sidus Four
Capacity
1 CRMX universe per unit; Wi-Fi selection 1–4
Wired DMX
Push-pull port adapter to 5-pin XLR
Charging
USB-C 5 V / 2 A; built-in battery

A portable transceiver linking wired DMX, CRMX and compatible apps over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. It can receive CRMX and provide wired DMX for a light without radio. Sidus BT Mesh is a separate function: it does not mean every Bluetooth device receives CRMX.

Prepare your rental inquiry

Specify equipment only or whether setup, programming, operation and strike are also needed. Scope is confirmed in the proposal.

You do not need a final equipment list: tell us the result you want and the part you need help with. Availability and scope are confirmed in the proposal.

Features and connections

USB-C handles charging and firmware; it is not a DMX input or output. Keep the specific adapter and check IN/OUT direction.

Antennas have different roles: Wi-Fi uses red identification, while CRMX/Sidus BT use white, as shown in the manual. Fit them to their ports before preparing the link.

Buttons and protocol support changed with firmware. Record fixture and app versions; the manual revision is not the installed firmware number.

Prepare the system

  1. Charge and secure unit, antennas and adapter. Decide whether it will transmit CRMX, receive CRMX or serve as a Sidus BT node.
  2. In currently documented firmware, hold TX/RX for 1 second to change role and U for 1 second to change universe. Confirm indicators afterward.
  3. Choose AP or STA and the intended control network. In STA, ask the network administrator to verify device communication; sharing a Wi-Fi name does not guarantee it.

Questions and troubleshooting

Connected to Wi-Fi, but CRMX lights do not respond?

Network connection and lighting output are separate checks.

  1. Confirm TX and the listening universe. The FAQ supports universes 1–4 and excludes Art-Net Universe 0. Patched information must be present on the selected universe.
  2. Sidus One latches the first protocol detected between Art-Net and sACN. If another source took priority, remove it in a controlled test before checking Art-Net again.
  3. Check CRMX linking and each light’s patch. In TX, tapping CRMX sends a link command; holding for 3 seconds unlinks all receivers, so do not use a hold as a test tap.
Does a wired light receive no data from Sidus One?

Follow the physical path and radio role.

  1. For CRMX reception to DMX output, use RX and connect the adapter’s OUT branch to the light’s DMX IN. Console input uses a different route.
  2. Do not connect DMX to Sidus One USB-C. A light using a USB port for DMX needs its own specific compatible active adapter.
  3. Match light address and personality to the console; terminate the DMX chain and test a known cable. RDM is documented only in RX.
Do Sidus Bluetooth lights fail to follow CRMX control?

Sidus BT and CRMX Bluetooth use different workflows.

  1. Confirm whether the app controls a Sidus BT fixture or a patched DMX/CRMX fixture. Check the selected connection type and model compatibility.
  2. For Sidus BT, check Bluetooth and fixture pairing using the installed app version’s workflow. A CRMX link does not establish a mesh connection.
  3. For dropouts, separate source/patch testing from radio and battery checks. Do not assume a nearby light retransmits CRMX or add another transmitter without planning links.

Terms on this page

DMX
A data protocol controlling lighting functions; each model defines what its channels mean.
RDM
Management communication for querying or configuring compatible equipment over a compatible path.
Patch
Assignment of fixture, profile, address and universe in the control system.
Personality
A control mode defining the channels and functions used by a fixture.
