Projection guide
Front and rear projection
Ask GLMedia about rental options for event projection. We review availability, configuration, and alternatives for your event.
Planning criteria
With the date, location, and intended use, we can review which equipment and combination can be offered. You can inquire before measurements, drawings, or the final schedule are ready.
In front projection, audience and projector are on the same side of the screen. Rear projection sends the image from behind and needs a suitable surface.
We can compare paths from a sketch before final measurements. Mark audience, screen, projector, and access.
System decisions
- Surface
- Check the exact material for front, rear, or dual use. Image orientation does not turn opaque fabric into a rear surface.
- Technical space
- Allow optical distance, equipment, ventilation, cabling, and access behind the screen. Available depth is more than lens distance.
- Orientation
- Select the model’s appropriate installation position and check text from the audience side.
What to share
Identify image width, available depth, and access on both sides.
Share model, lens, and surface where known. We can identify gaps before selecting an option.
Preparing the comparison
- Sketch both paths and mark possible shadows or obstacles.
- Confirm surface and distance table for the actual combination. Do not assume every rear material suits every lens angle.
- Check orientation using text and an asymmetric shape from the audience side.
- Test under planned lighting; check uniformity, visibility, and separation of audience and technical area.
Three technical questions
Does rear projection mean ultra-short throw?
Rear projection describes the light’s side of arrival; ultra-short throw describes optics. Check lens, surface, and space for the combination.
Is flipping the image enough?
A compatible surface and valid placement are required too. The LU935ST manual distinguishes Front/Rear positions and requires a rear screen for Rear; it is not just a file edit.
How much space is needed behind the screen?
Calculate from width, lens, and manufacturer reference. Add actual equipment, mounting, ventilation, and access; there is no universal rear-projection depth.
Checks to guide decisions
| Symptom | Check | What it helps distinguish |
|---|---|---|
| Text reversed for audience | Selected installation position. | Orientation. |
| Hotspot or uneven image | Surface, angle, and position. | Optical compatibility. |
| Insufficient usable depth | Complete path and access. | Technical space. |
Installation and limits
Keep technical area and beam separate from public circulation with a site-appropriate plan.
Check stability and ventilation without covering equipment to hide it. Use exact documentation for mounting.
