Projection guide
ALR screens and UST projectors
Ask GLMedia about rental options for event screens and projection. We review availability, configuration, and alternatives for your event.
Planning criteria
With the date, location, and intended use, we can review which equipment and combination can be offered. You can inquire before measurements, drawings, or the final schedule are ready.
The surface must accept projector light from its planned position and provide a usable audience image. ALR or CLR labels do not replace the exact material datasheet.
We can review photos, model, and space before screen selection. Compare controlling room light as an option too.
System decisions
- Exact material
- Record full name and variant. Do not interchange materials based on similar acronyms or color.
- Optical geometry
- Relate lens, screen, and viewers to the documented orientation. Lighting positions also require checking.
- Actual result
- Test uniformity, reflections, and readability from planned seats. A photo from another room does not establish performance.
What to share
Share projector, lens, screen material, image width, and planned positions.
Identify lighting and audience positions. If screen selection is pending, we can prepare conditions to check.
Preparing the comparison
- Check material compatibility: the current CineGrey 3D page excludes short and ultra-short throw. Do not generalize its conditions to every ALR surface.
- StarBright CLR is documented for tabletop UST placement below the screen. Check orientation labels and supported position; flipping material is not a generic solution.
- Compare options in the same room with the same content, tracking which lights remain on.
- Check aspect ratio, focus, and projector mounting separately. A compatible surface does not correct out-of-range geometry.
Three technical questions
Does every ALR screen work with UST?
The material needs explicit compatibility with the selected lens and position. Some light-rejecting surfaces target conventional throw, others UST.
Does every UST require an ALR screen?
Selection depends on supported material, light, placement, and desired result. We can compare a compatible surface with lighting control against a specific optical solution without prescribing ALR solely from UST labeling.
Can I mount the projector above and flip any surface?
Check the exact combination. The Aeon CLR manual with StarBright CLR specifies tabletop UST; do not transfer that surface to another position by assumption.
Checks to guide decisions
| Symptom | Check | What it helps distinguish |
|---|---|---|
| Dark or uneven image | Material, orientation, and lens position. | Compatibility. |
| Distracting reflections | Light and audience views. | Site conditions. |
| Similar acronyms, different result | Full surface code. | Variant. |
Installation and limits
Follow exact-material mounting and care instructions; do not copy attachment or cleaning from another fabric.
Keep identification and test results. A lens, location, or surface change requires reviewing the affected combination.
