Confirm the D2 suffix and console generation. The original Tio and D2 have a documented compatibility mode; do not copy switch positions without the exact manual.
Connections and required equipment
Mic → Tio preamp → Dante subscription → console input. Console bus → Dante receive channel → Tio analog output. HA control is another requirement.
Prepare the system
- Save patch and record console, firmware, UNIT ID and startup mode.
- Choose the documented automatic or manual configuration for this system.
- Protect outputs before any planned restart or switch change.
Questions and troubleshooting
TF Quick Config does not recognize the rack.
Check the complete TF prerequisites.
- Verify NY64-D, unique UNIT ID and activated Tio1608-D compatibility mode using the exact manual procedure. Confirm Quick Config at rack and TF, then SLOT input selection.
- Change switches only with power off as prescribed; after a planned restart verify SYSTEM/SYNC and one channel. If failing, record indicators and versions for support.
A manual Dante patch disappears after restart.
Automatic configuration can restore its own patch.
- Check whether Quick Config remains enabled. The manual says its settings replace Dante Controller changes at power-up.
- For a deliberately manual system, plan Quick Config OFF and apply the documented setup. DM3 Auto Config also requires this switch OFF. Verify subscription and console source after restart; do not repatch a live show blindly.
Audio is present, but HA control or a condenser microphone fails.
Audio subscription does not prove remote preamp control.
- In redundant mode, check supported HA control via PRIMARY. Compare gain ownership and the exact console compatibility.
- For a microphone requiring phantom, check both +48V ACTIVE and individual channel enable with the source technician. Verify level; do not enable phantom indiscriminately or mistake digital trim for analog gain.
Choose the next check
| Observation | Next check | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| No TF setup | Compatibility/ID/SLOT | Indicators and versions |
| Patch reverts | Quick Config/startup | Before/after map |
| HA or phantom | PRIMARY/control/enables | Source and settings |
Precautions
- Keep redundant networks separate and follow the approved clock/rate plan.
- Avoid rapid power cycling; follow the manual’s restart interval.
- No blind reset or firmware update.
