Wenger StageTek Outdoor: legs, connections and weather checks
Prepare StageTek Outdoor with its own manual: leg seating, connected decks, stabilizer braces, drainage and conditions after rainfall.
Identify the platform
Ask GLMedia about rental options for your event. The proposal is subject to availability, confirmation of the model and configuration, and the venue’s technical requirements.
StageTek Outdoor uses aluminum plank decks for outdoor performance platforms. This guide follows Owner’s Manual 284A099-03, December 2024. It is a distinct deck variant from indoor StageTek; identify the actual deck and leg configuration before using a load rating.
What the published specifications cover
- Deck options
- Rectangular 4 × 4 ft, 4 × 6 ft and 4 × 8 ft decks; surface texture and drainage gaps are features of the Outdoor deck.
- Published load-test conditions
- For a 4 × 8 ft deck: 4 legs, standard uniform live load 125 lb/ft² with L/150 deflection criterion; heavy-duty with center leg, 150 lb/ft² with L/180 criterion. These are separate documented conditions.
- Interfaces
- Leg pockets with hand-tightening knobs; straps or the specified metal connectors join adjacent deck assemblies. No electrical or signal connection is required for the deck itself.
Match the chosen load case to the real deck, center-leg kit and support arrangement. A uniform-load figure is not a point-load allowance or a rating for an entire outdoor site. Have ground bearing, access, guards and the complete installation reviewed by a competent person.
Deck, supports and accessories
Identify the legs, required connectors, bracing and selected accessories. The Outdoor manual requires stabilizer braces at heights of 40 in (1016 mm) or more; telescopic-leg bracing uses its specified adapter. Accessory presence in a photograph does not establish that it is included.
Prepare the configuration
- Using the manual’s handling method and crew, place the unloaded deck on a clean surface, insert each leg fully and hand-tighten its pocket knob. Identify any adjustable-leg settings before turning the deck upright.
- Level each deck at its intended height before installing leg connectors. Connect every adjoining deck as shown for the selected layout; do not substitute one connector type for all configurations.
- Inspect drainage and surface condition before use. Dry the surface after rain, account for heating in sunlight and resolve the project’s wind, anchoring and grounding arrangements before opening the stage.
Three technical questions
The rain stopped. Is the textured surface ready to use immediately?
No automatic assumption. Keep the area closed while the surface is checked and dried as the manual requires. Drainage gaps and texture do not establish safe traction for every condition. Snow or ice use is not recommended; prolonged extreme exposure and prolonged outdoor storage of accessories are outside the intended conditions.
One deck moves away from its neighbor. What should I check?
Unload and isolate the affected area. Compare every adjoining connection with the layout, then check leg seating, hand knobs and the specified straps or connectors. The manual requires adjoining decks to be connected. Do not test movement by walking on it or tighten occupied staging; have an unresolved mismatch reviewed before use.
Can I cure a wobble by extending one leg or adding a loose block?
Do not improvise a support arrangement. Record which support is moving and whether the ground is settling, without entering an unsafe underside. Compare the selected legs, leveling limits, connectors and bracing with the approved layout. A competent person must resolve the ground-support condition; adjustment range does not prove soil capacity.
Before anyone uses the stage
The outdoor deck does not make every accessory suitable for prolonged weather exposure. Keep decks clean and dry; the manual prohibits oil-based cleaning products, wax and polish on the deck surface. Stop for damaged parts, changing ground conditions or an unresolved weather limit.
