Teradek VidiU X: conference output and intermittent link
Prepare HDMI, audio, network and destination. Separate device access, transmission and external reception with a defined contingency.
Check the conference path all the way to the viewer
Device and current scope
VidiU X is an encoder with HDMI input/pass-through output and 3.5 mm audio input; USB-C supplies power. Camera/slide switching must be prepared upstream.
Teradek lists it under discontinued products in its guide center. Check an existing unit’s version and active services. For purchase/new systems, compare a current supported encoder. A legacy manual does not confirm availability or cloud service.
Case 35: conference output
Define production output, actual HDMI format and selected embedded/analog audio. Check input and listening locally; HDMI pass-through does not verify encoding. Prepare power and cabling for the unit.
Coordinate network with the venue, then destination, authorization and platform parameters. WiFi AP provides local control without Internet through that network; Client joins an external WiFi. Phone control and streaming are separate checks.
Propose a rehearsal stream with speech, slide and clip. An external observer checks picture, sound and reception. Identify account/event and operator without exposing keys in shared notes.
Case 36: interrupted link
Record time and video/network/broadcast states against platform reception. Preserve profile and logs before restarting. Separate HDMI loss, network failure and destination rejection; change one variable at a time.
The manual documents subscription-based Sharelink bonding. Before offering it today, confirm service, account, supported devices and plan. Two connections may share provider/power and do not guarantee independence or continuity.
With recording enabled and suitable media, the manual describes local recording continuing through a connectivity interruption. Rehearse and inspect the file. It may preserve delivery content without proving viewers received it. Agree restart authority, holding slide and return check.
Alternatives and inquiry
Compare coordinated wired network, validated additional connectivity and a prepared alternative encoder according to criticality. A two-way meeting also needs its call/return system.
GLMedia can evaluate rental, purchase, installation, integration, configuration or operation. Start with approximate date, venue and platform. Scope transmission alone or production, audio, monitoring, staffing and recording; confirm availability and services.
Does WiFi access mean Internet access?
No. AP may provide local control. Verify outgoing connectivity and destination reception.
Does a network light confirm we are live?
Also check broadcast state and external picture/audio reception.
Does recording cover an Internet outage?
Rehearse enabled recording and inspect its file. Local content may survive while viewers still miss that interval.
Can we use another encoder?
Yes. Compare input, platform, protocols, services and operation, with a substitution rehearsal.
