Sony SRG-X400: room camera and venue network integration
Prepare conference video, control and operation. Review 4K activation, receiver connections and venue network access for SRG-X400.
Identify the unit and separate video, control and access
Variant and outputs
SRGL-4K activates 3840×2160/29.97p HDMI and IP output on SRG-X400. Verify activation before offering UHD. The manual specifies HD SDI and no SDI picture when 4K output is selected; do not assume simultaneous routes.
Record label, version, controller, power and accessories. SRG-X400 is not SRG-A40 or BRC-X400: shared manuals include other models’ exclusive functions. For NDI HX, verify enablement and unit-specific documentation rather than another device’s options.
Case 07: room and streaming
Define lectern, panel and audience-question shots, testing positions with standing attendees. Assign movement control and the shot covering reframing. Compare integrated-lens PTZ with an operated position for unpredictable action.
Agree picture and audio delivered to production, then platform and recording. Test camera-to-receiver first, followed by switching and files. The manual separates VISCA over IP and RS-422, with protocol selection at the controller; identify model and compatible configuration as well as cable.
Case 08: venue networking
With IT, map camera, controller, receiving computer and their functions. Request authorized physical ports, addressing, routes, capacity and change responsibility. Separate setup access, control and video transport; a browser image does not validate all three. The manual distinguishes administrator and user rights: assign configuration and operation.
Save settings and agreed access records before setup. Rehearse movement, recall and reception from show devices under expected traffic. If picture works but control does not, note the failed action and review protocol, address and permissions without resetting or joining networks by trial and error.
If network video alone fails, compare that branch with a compatible physical output, noting format, receiver and time. An alternative route needs a rehearsed changeover and operator. Prepare account, network or firmware changes off air with the responsible person, preserving a return to agreed settings.
Discuss a solution
GLMedia can evaluate rental, purchase, installation, integration, configuration or operation. Start with date, venue, shots and approximate destinations without final plans or platform. Scope can include existing equipment and alternatives; confirm unit, licenses, accessories, availability and staffing in the proposal.
Does 4K in an offer confirm UHD delivery?
Request variant, activation, selected output format and receiver. Check a sample at the intended destination before confirming delivery.
Does a browser picture establish controller integration?
Test control and video separately from their real devices. Record working and missing functions to review the relevant path.
Should we reset when picture works but movement does not?
First retain configuration and record camera, controller, protocol and failed action. Compare that route before deleting settings needed by other functions.
Can we book integration with venue equipment only?
Yes. Identify supplied devices, IT responsibilities and handoff. Scope can cover preparation, conversion, configuration or rehearsal as agreed.
