What it is and when it helps
MXA920 is a networked ceiling microphone with IntelliMix processing. Choose square S or round R to suit the ceiling, mounting and project.
Connections and components
It needs PoE and a compatible Dante audio path. Specify an integration interface or processor for a computer; the microphone has no direct USB connection.
Clear tables and remote participants
For board meetings or moving presenters, assess ceiling pickup, loudspeakers, far-end return and operation. For temporary shows with fast setup or reverberant rooms, compare close tabletop, handheld or lavalier microphones before choosing.

- Initial option: Review the plan, acoustics and participants to choose ceiling or tabletop.
- Expand the scope: Add network, conferencing interface, loudspeakers, control and commissioning.
- Another alternative: Tabletop microphones for fixed seats, or wireless microphones for presenters.
- For a quote: Plan, ceiling height/type, noise, available network, platform, destinations and installation permissions.
Prepare before the event
- Confirm variant, approved mounting and venue conditions.
- Agree PoE, network and configuration access with IT.
- Define coverage, automix output and echo reference for the design.
- Test local/remote conversation, interruptions, mute and actual positions.
Questions and answers
Does one MXA920 guarantee whole-room coverage?
Do not select quantity by floor area alone. The initial configuration uses a 9 × 9 m area; height, noise, reverberation and positions need assessment and listening.
Can I connect it to a laptop by USB?
Not directly. Define the network-audio path to the conferencing interface, its connections and the application input/output selection.
Why is it powered but silent?
PoE establishes power, not the complete audio path. Check network discovery, Dante subscription, mute and output selection. Automatic coverage uses the automix output.
Why does the remote participant hear echo?
Check where AEC runs and the reference from the far-end return feeding the loudspeakers. Avoid duplicate AEC and test a call; raising gain does not fix routing.
When are tabletop microphones preferable?
For close pickup, clear speaking turns or temporary setups without ceiling work. Compare intelligibility, furniture, installation and operation with ceiling pickup.
Does the quote include installation and tuning?
List mounting, cabling, network, interface, configuration, tests and operator handover. Agree responsibility and scope before confirming the solution.
