Shure IntelliMix P300: hybrid meeting audio

Separate microphones, USB, Dante, room feeds and AEC reference for a useful remote mix.

Ask about rental, purchase or integration

Tell us the use, date and venue, even with an approximate brief. We can assess equipment, integration, preparation and technical support. Configuration, availability and terms are confirmed in the proposal.

Case 39: DSP within a complete system

P300 is a conferencing processor with mixing/AEC, not a microphone, loudspeaker amplifier or interpretation system. Its guide requires Class 4 PoE+. Prepare network/power, supported microphones/interfaces, computer/codec, amplified loudspeakers and control software/versions. A USB cable does not prove the application selected the right device.

Proposed map: room mics → suitable processed inputs → USB mix to remote; remote USB return → room loudspeaker output. Do not directly send that return back to the same remote. AEC reference should represent remote audio played by the speakers for the actual path, not a channel chosen by habit.

Identify where AEC runs: P300, microphone or another supported component. The guide addresses avoiding duplicated AEC and choosing USB device type for its owner; do not routinely disable all application processing without checking behavior.

Case 40: remote hears echo but the room does not

  1. Keep file/map. Ask the remote to speak while observing return, outgoing USB mix and AEC reference. Identify another open laptop/call mic in the room; a duplicate path may bypass the DSP.
  2. First inspect direct remote-return → remote-send crosspoints in matrix or a second application path. Correct the agreed route in rehearsal before increasing echo reduction.
  3. For acoustic pickup through room mics, check AEC reference and process level against the actual loudspeaker feed. Review mic/speaker location, volume and room acoustics. AEC does not remove a routing loop or replace acoustic design.
  4. Verify application input/output USB selection and documented USB device type/AEC setup for the versions. Test local speech, remote speech and double-talk, plus mute/recovery off an active meeting.

Scope and alternatives

Evaluate rental, purchase, integration, setup and operation. A suitable speakerphone may serve a small meeting; multiple microphones/feeds may call for a supported P300 system or larger DSP. Start with date, venue, approximate attendees and remote link. Define room, remote and recording separately and include a test call; DSP does not prove internet quality/continuity.

More setup questions

Do visible Dante and connected USB mean the meeting is ready?

No. Confirm subscriptions, application device selection, matrix, AEC reference and both-end listening in a test call.

Does more AEC always fix echo?

No. Separate duplicated electrical return from acoustic pickup first. Check routes/reference and AEC ownership, then test both directions.
