Model and application
- Receiver
- AD4Q
- Normal operation
- 4 channels
- Quadversity
- 2 audio channels
- Outputs
- Analog / AES3 / Dante
- Management
- Wireless Workbench
Identify RF hardware, selected band and transmitter family before pairing.
Connections and required equipment
RF reception, Shure control and Dante audio are separate paths. Read the selected network mode before choosing ports.
Prepare the system
- Record versions, channel mode and antenna arrangement.
- Use the coordinated RF plan and matching transmitter band.
- Test one channel and the intended output at controlled level.
Questions and troubleshooting
Why does IR sync fail?
Start with identity and the exact error.
- Confirm band, transmitter model and compatible versions.
- Select the receiver channel and align IR windows for SYNC; retain registration and encryption policy.
- A successful sync still needs RF and audio verification on the selected channel. If compatible identified units repeatedly fail, save the exact error and both versions for Shure support; do not disable registration or encryption to make the error disappear.
Why are fewer audio channels available?
Read Quadversity and diversity settings.
- Quadversity provides two audio channels with four antenna inputs.
- Do not toggle it during use: enabling it reboots the receiver.
- If Quadversity is active, the reduced audio-channel count matches that mode rather than proving a failure. If the plan requires normal four-channel operation, schedule the documented mode change/reboot outside use, then verify every RF/audio channel before returning to service.
Why is control online but Dante silent?
Control visibility does not confirm audio routing.
- Read switched versus split/redundant mode and trace the selected ports.
- Check subscription, rate/clock and console input patch; compare receiver audio metering.
- If receiver audio meters respond but the subscribed console input does not, compare the network/audio patch rather than resyncing the microphone. Verify the same source through bus and destination after correction; persistent clock/subscription errors require the network operator’s review.
Choose the next check
| Observation | Next check | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| Sync error | Band, IR and versions | Exact message |
| Channel count change | Operating mode | Quadversity/diversity |
| Control without audio | Network mode and patch | Ports, subscription, clock |
Precautions
- Use authorized frequencies and a coordinated antenna plan.
- Do not join primary and secondary networks or change modes during operation.
- Do not bypass registration, encryption or protection to test a forum suggestion.
