Shure ADTD

Build a traceable monitor path from the console to an ADXR bodypack, checking audio input, radio configuration and remote control separately.

ADTD is the dual-radio Axient Digital PSM transmitter. Radio count is not a promise of available stereo mixes: expansion licenses, transmission mode and regional authorization govern the actual configuration.

Connections and required equipment

Console monitor sends enter the selected wired input; the transmitter routes them to a radio, then an antenna system sends them to the bodypack. ShowLink manages parameters without carrying the listening audio.

Prepare the system

  1. Record the band, firmware, active mode, licenses and approved antenna/combiner diagram.
  2. Select the intended input and channel assignment; confirm console and transmitter meters without clipping.
  3. Sync the intended receiver through the documented channel workflow, then rehearse at a controlled listening level.

Questions and troubleshooting

Case: Workbench sees ADTD, but its input meter is silent.

Device discovery confirms control connectivity only.

  1. Check selected analog/AES3/network input and source patch.
  2. For Dante, inspect subscriptions and clock status; compare Switched versus Split/Redundant port mapping before moving cables.
  3. If input metering returns after correcting source selection, the input stage is verified; continue through its radio assignment and intended bodypack. If control works but input stays absent, save source, port mode, clock and patch observations for Shure/network support rather than resetting the transmitter.
Case: IR completed, but the bodypack has no program.

Check which IR operation was performed.

  1. RX ShowLink Network ID Update copies the control network identifier; it does not sync audio settings or assign a receiver slot.
  2. Use the current channel receiver-sync instructions; verify frequency, mode, encryption and RF mute state.
  3. If channel sync establishes RF but the bodypack remains silent, compare transmitter input and receiver audio/output settings at reduced listening level. Verify the intended monitor mix with the performer before use; repeated sync errors require exact versions and messages for support.
Case: expected extra mixes or a mode are unavailable.

Compare actual licenses and installed firmware with the regional feature set.

  1. Do not substitute ADTQ radio counts or assume every mode permits the same expansion.
  2. Save the working preset and plan changes off show; recheck RF output power and coverage after expansion.
  3. If the requested combination is not enabled or permitted, revise the planned allocation with the system owner rather than changing licenses as a test. After a documented scheduled change, verify every required mix, RF coverage and listening level; unexplained resource differences require Shure support.
