ROE Visual Black Pearl BP2 V2
ROE Black Pearl BP2 V2: mapping, power and camera checks
Ask GLMedia about rental options for an LED screen system. We review availability, configuration, and alternatives for your event.
Which panel does this guide cover?
With the date, location, and intended use, we can review which equipment and combination can be offered. You can inquire before measurements, drawings, or the final schedule are ready.
The ROE Visual Black Pearl BP2 V2, also written BP2V2, is an indoor LED panel used for film, broadcast and event displays. This guide covers the standard panel. The similar BP2 V1 and creative corner/triangle modules have separate specifications.
Panel variants and connections
- Image and panel
- 2.84 mm pitch; 176 × 176 pixels; 500 × 500 × 90 mm; 9.35 kg per panel. Reference maximum calibrated brightness: 1500 nit.
- Refresh and revision
- BP2 V2: 1/8 scan, 7680 Hz and 16-bit grayscale. These do not identify the receiver firmware or guarantee artifact-free footage at every camera setting.
- Electrical reference
- 190/95 W maximum/average per panel, corroborated by the 2023 manual and official comparison brochure. AC 100–240 V, 50–60 Hz. Check the actual label and feeder design; average power does not define electrical-chain capacity.
- Data and control
- The manual lists etherCON data cables and True1 power-cable options. Video reaches a compatible processor before panel data inputs. The V2 comparison lists MVR/Brompton; identify the installed receiver and matching processor before connection.
What the system needs
Provide a compatible processor and receiver configuration, tested data/video cables, a pixel map, qualified power distribution and the correct support hardware. For camera work, include the camera format, shutter settings and a documented synchronization plan.
Hanging and stacking require their own approved arrangement, accessories and ballast where applicable. A brochure maximum is conditional on the matching ROE hardware and installation; do not treat it as permission for a new layout.
Calculated example, not a supplied configuration: a 4 × 2 m rectangle made from 500 × 500 mm cabinets has 8 columns and 4 rows. At 176 × 176 pixels per cabinet, the canvas is 1408 × 704 pixels (991232 pixels). Check the real map and processor capacity for the chosen format.
Prepare the system
- Record BP2 V2 label, receiver model, firmware, processor version and patch order. Save the current project before changing assignments. Keep V1 and V2 configuration files clearly separated.
- After qualified personnel approve support and power, check the video input and blackout state. Compare detected panel count with the patch plan. For Tessera, inspect strings in Add Fixtures From Network before association.
- During rehearsal, show a border, panel identifiers and solid colors at suitable brightness. Check the intended camera feed as well as the panel viewed directly; record settings and restore the planned content.
Operating questions
Can I use a BP2 V1 project or cabinet file because the pitch is the same?
The shared pitch does not validate the receiver configuration. Confirm the V2 label, receiver platform and approved fixture/cabinet definition. The official comparison identifies different scanning and refresh specifications between generations.
Keep the original project and check a controlled test arrangement before applying any new mapping. Do not send a V1 receiver file to a V2 wall or change driver settings solely to match a specification number.
A replaced panel is detected but stays black. What should I check?
Check the selected source, blackout and the expected panel count first. Compare the physical chain and saved positions; inspect accessible data cables. Substitute one known-good compatible lead during a planned test if needed.
On a Tessera system, detection and association are separate: a replacement must be assigned to the intended canvas position. Confirm its online status and association before assuming failure. Avoid opening, factory reset or firmware update as a generic first step.
Why can the camera show scan lines even though the panel specification says 7680 Hz?
Record the actual camera frame rate and shutter speed/angle, processor format and sync status. The published LED refresh rate is not the video frame rate and does not establish exposure compatibility by itself. Compare a simple static pattern and the intended content during rehearsal.
On supported Tessera SX40/S8 systems, the documented ShutterSync camera workflow uses Genlock and camera exposure settings. Verify software and panel support before using it; do not copy generic HFR examples as BP2 V2 limits. Change one setting at a time and assess the actual recorded image.
Symptom and next check
| Symptom | Check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| V1 file proposed for V2 | Label, receiver and approved definition | Use the matching configuration. |
| Detected but black | Source, blackout and fixture association | Review the saved project and intended position. |
| Camera lines | Exposure, sync and supported processor features | Rehearse with the actual camera settings. |
Power, environment and installation
The official page specifies indoor IP40 and operation from −20 to +45 °C. Keep panels and connections away from moisture and corrosive environments. The manual requires qualified installation, grounding and intact power/data cables.
After prolonged humid storage, follow the manufacturer’s appropriate conditioning procedure before normal operation. Do not start with a full-brightness white pattern. Protect LED edges and use the specified handling method.
Have qualified personnel determine feeder loading and mechanical limits for the complete assembly. This guide does not authorize climbing or work under suspended loads. Stop for damaged connectors or overheating and isolate power before service.
