ProD2 contains independent passive DI paths. It needs no phantom power and does not amplify a weak source. It is not an automatic stereo-to-mono merger.

Connections and required equipment

Source L/R → separate INPUTs → XLR outputs → microphone inputs. THRU carries the parallel source signal for a suitable local destination.

Prepare the system

  1. Lower levels and protect the system before connecting.
  2. Label left/right and check source adapter wiring.
  3. Test each path alone, then the intended stereo mix.

Questions and troubleshooting

Playback loses one side or sounds incomplete.

Check the source breakout before blaming the DI.

  1. Verify separate left/right feeds to the two INPUTs; check source and console panning. A stereo headphone plug is not automatically a balanced mono feed.
  2. Test one known source/cable per path at protected level. If the fault follows a cable or output, document it; do not tie source outputs together to force mono.
The signal is quiet or distorted.

Locate the level mismatch.

  1. XLR outputs are mic level; check the destination preamp and source playback level. THRU is a different output type.
  2. For distortion, check console clipping first; then compare the DI pad with controlled gain readjustment. Verify clean peaks. Persistent distortion needs source/cable comparison and service evidence.
Hum remains after using ground lift.

The DI switch only changes the audio ground path.

  1. Compare its built-in GROUND LIFT at protected level and record the result. List attached audio, video and control equipment.
  2. If hum persists, have the system technician inspect the signal paths and approved isolation options. Never remove protective earth, cut shields or modify mains wiring.
