Rigging and power
Power and signal cables
Plan cabling around the equipment, intended power supply and event routes. This record groups cables with different functions; each assembly needs its own identification, length and documented connection.
Identification and scope
- Manufacturer or brand
- Check the identification on the unit
- Equipment name
- Power and signal cables — part numbers to confirm
- Location
- Ask about availability and location
- Supply for the event
- Ask about options for the planned date and scope
- Configuration or function
- Socapex and Cam-Lok cables, breakouts, extensions and network cables. Lengths and connectors to be confirmed.
You can start with the equipment, date, location and approximate distances. With that information, we’ll review connections and supply options even before you have a final cable list.
Information to prepare this item
- Component identification, nameplate and documentation; actual assembly configuration.
- For power: voltage, connectors, protection, available supply and assembly documentation, with review by the qualified person responsible. For signal: interfaces, format or protocol, and source and destination equipment.
Identify each assembly and its function
Record labels, brand or part number, length, connectors at both ends and observed condition. For breakouts or branched assemblies, also identify each output and its correspondence with the assembly documentation.
Names such as Socapex, Cam-Lok, extension or network do not by themselves define the proposed cable’s wiring, rating, category or conditions of use. Match each part number to its data sheet and the equipment it will connect to.
Build the list from the connections
| Point | What to record | How to proceed |
|---|---|---|
| Power | Equipment, nameplate details, available supply, connectors and protection | Gather documentation and arrange review by the qualified person responsible |
| Signal | Source, destination, interfaces, format or protocol, and complete route | Check cable and accessory part numbers against the link documentation |
| Routes and quantities | Measured distances, pass-through points, service slack, access and connection list | Define lengths, quantities, labeling and cable protection with the venue |
If a label, connector or observed condition differs from the plan, record the discrepancy and arrange evaluation or replacement before including that assembly. Do not assume equivalence based on connector shape or color.
Documentation and checks for the actual assembly
Once part numbers and equipment are identified, we can gather data sheets, layouts and checking procedures. Power connections require review by the qualified person responsible; this page does not assign electrical ratings, pinouts or connection instructions to an unidentified assembly.
