Panasonic AW-UE80: multicamera production and output choice

Prepare conference cameras, control and formats. Compare IP, SDI and HDMI through destination picture, sound and delay tests.

Define each camera route before configuration

Identity and formats by connection

AW-UE80 combines HDMI up to 2160/59.94p or 50p with HD 3G-SDI. Do not assign UHD to SDI. Panasonic documents included NDI High Bandwidth and NDI HX2; HX2 is Full HD only. Distinguish UE83MC.

Request label, firmware and system connections. Identify controller, applications and plugins: documented camera NDI does not establish inclusion of another software function or license in the proposal.

Case 03: multicamera conference

Proposed preparation: a wide camera and assigned lectern/panel shots. Use the same camera, input and preset numbers on plans and in production. Test lenses from each actual position; UHD input does not make an obstructed close-up useful.

The manual’s connection example separates video, control, reference and camera/controller power. Prepare each path and verify specified power for the unit. For networking, coordinate initial account, addresses, permissions and devices with IT; serial control is not an interchangeable LAN connection.

Rehearse speaker changes, questions and slides under planned lighting. Save configuration and an identifiable take per camera. Compare exposure and color in program, returns and files, and assign shot preparation while another camera is on air.

Case 04: choose IP, SDI or HDMI

For a nearby HDMI receiver, review format and the complete cable route. For HD SDI switching, verify standard and any adaptation. For IP, define sender/receiver protocol and NDI variant, and calculate simultaneous cameras, previews and destinations with the network team. One camera’s bandwidth is insufficient to assess the show.

We propose recording the same visible and audible gesture through each candidate path under identified conditions. Compare the show monitor or app and the saved file. Include movement and all planned sources. Separate picture/sound offset, dropouts and drift; a nominal delay is not a measurement of the entire system.

If SDI/HDMI work and IP alone fails, retain time, protocol, format, receiver and network load. Compare that branch without changing exposure or presets. Evaluate a tested physical route or reduced scope during recovery, including who switches and what stays on air.

Turn the need into a proposal

Ask GLMedia about rental, purchase, installation, integration, configuration or operation. Start with date or frequency, venue, approximate sources and destinations. Compare physical, networked or mixed production with defined accessories, staffing and tests; confirm availability and licenses for the specific configuration.

Does SDI automatically retain the HDMI format?

Define each output standard and the receiver’s accepted format. Test the selected route before treating the connections as equivalent.

Does NDI remove the need to coordinate with IT?

Define addresses, access, capacity, devices, receivers and responsibilities. Rehearse the show’s simultaneous sources and destinations.

Which test establishes suitability for a live screen?

Compare the full route with actual movement and destination. Keep a sample and agree acceptance with production; preview in another app does not validate that screen.

Can we request cameras only to complete another production system?

Yes. Identify the existing supplier’s scope and handoff. Define camera, control, conversion, power and who installs and operates each part.
