Panasonic AW-UE40: conference panels, speakers and presets
Prepare PTZ position, video, control and rehearsal for a panel or speaker. Diagnose changed preset framing and define the required production scope.
Two decisions before installation and preset preparation
Model and connections that affect scope
AW-UE40 is a 24x optical PTZ with HDMI 4K formats up to 29.97p/25p plus USB or IP video. It has no SDI; distinguish UE50. Power is 12 V DC or PoE+; USB does not power the camera.
For SDI switching, compare compatible HDMI conversion with a native-SDI camera. List output standard, receiver format, cable and converter power. For USB or IP, confirm the specific mode and receiving app; a shared connector does not establish identical formats on every route.
Case 01: panel and speaker with a covering shot
Mark lectern, panel and movement route. Test wide and close shots from the intended position with people seated and standing. Define which camera stays on air while the PTZ moves and who confirms the next shot is ready. Presets help prepare repeatable framing; one camera does not provide simultaneous angles.
Separate installation from operation: stable support and manufacturer mounting, movement clearance, power, video and control. The manual distinguishes Desktop/Hanging; RS-422 must not receive PoE. Agree who approves location and prepares support before connecting.
We propose a moderator-to-panelist change, someone standing and return to the lectern. Record program and review focus, framing, obstructions and visible movement. For unpredictable action, compare dedicated control or an operated camera alongside PTZ.
Case 02: a preset no longer matches rehearsal
Before overwriting memories, save configuration and a sample of the mismatch. Identify selected camera, preset number, controller and rehearsal reference. Compare base position, support, orientation and chair or lectern location; do not assume memory alone changed. Do not turn the head by hand.
Repeat one identified preset off air with the same reference subject. Note direction, shot size, focus or exposure differences. Displaced framing and changed brightness call for different comparisons. If all movement is reversed, review installation orientation and controller reversal in their manuals.
If mounting matches but recall still changes another condition, record version and recall settings for review against the applicable operating manual. Do not change Preset Scope or update firmware from an isolated symptom. Retain the wide shot and starting state to restore useful coverage.
What a proposal can include
GLMedia can evaluate rental, purchase, installation, configuration or operation. Start with approximate date, venue, people, movement and room, meeting or recording destinations. Photos and estimated dimensions support position, control and conversion options; confirm model, accessories, licenses, availability and staffing in the proposal.
Can UE40 connect directly to an SDI input?
This variant needs a compatible route from its output to that receiver. Evaluate conversion with defined formats and power, or another camera; rehearse picture and audio at the destination.
Should every preset be overwritten if one changes?
Retain the earlier state and compare one identified recall with its rehearsal reference. Confirm camera, memory, position and scene conditions before modifying others.
Does a saved shot cover a walking presenter?
Test the entire movement and its operator. Define coverage for a loss and compare manual tracking, another preset or an operated camera for that action.
Can I inquire without a selected model or final floor plan?
Yes. Date or timeframe, venue and what you need to show are enough to begin. Distances, sources, control, staffing and tests can follow when comparing scope.
