Panasonic AW-HE130

Panasonic AW-HE130: HD video, control and PoE+

Ask GLMedia about rental options for a PTZ camera system. We review availability, configuration, and alternatives for your event.

Model and scope

With the date, location, and intended use, we can review which equipment and combination can be offered. You can inquire before measurements, drawings, or the final schedule are ready.

AW-HE130 is a Full HD integrated PTZ camera with three 1/2.86-inch MOS sensors and a motorized 20x optical zoom. It supports remote shots for indoor multicamera production.

This guide covers the original AW-HE130W/K and regional suffixes in the manual. Do not transfer features from AW-HN130, AW-HE120 or UHD models. Record the suffix, firmware, controller and activation before selecting the signal path.

Video, control and power

Video
HDMI and HD/SD SDI OUT provide video according to the selected format; VIDEO OUT is composite. The menu includes 1080/59.94p and 1080/50p, plus interlaced and PsF modes: confirm receiver support.
Control and network
LAN supports IP control and compatible transmission. RS-422 is serial control on a separate connector: check labels and system wiring. Moving the camera over the network does not confirm streaming or NDI activation.
Power and reference
Nominal 12 V DC input or compatible IEEE802.3at PoE+. G/L IN receives documented black burst or tri-level reference, rather than program video. The adapter takes priority when PoE+ is also connected.

System requirements

Compatible controller and firmware supporting the model; suitable addressing and network for IP control or serial wiring for the exact system.

Approved supply or IEEE802.3at PoE+ port/injector with available capacity. An IEEE802.3af PoE port does not meet this model’s PoE+ requirement.

Receiver supporting the chosen physical format. For NDI, check firmware, existing activation and current support: do not treat this model as receiving free activation through an update.

Basic preparation

  1. Record model, firmware, power source, controller and receiver format. Connect according to the manual and keep the head’s movement clear.
  2. Check power and operating state before investigating the network. For PoE+, verify the standard, port configuration and power budget, as well as the cable.
  3. For IP, compare the camera address with the controller network and check for duplicate addresses. Verify control separately from video reception.
  4. Under System > Output, check Frequency and Format. Agree on 59.94 Hz or 50 Hz and p, i or PsF with the receiver before confirming the change.
  5. Verify SDI/HDMI, streaming and NDI activation separately. H.264 availability in the web interface also depends on enabled transmission and a supported environment.

Three technical questions

Why does it power up over PoE without normal operation or video?

Check that the port supports IEEE802.3at PoE+ and is configured to supply the required power. The manufacturer’s FAQ identifies out-of-specification power as one possible reason for an orange indicator; the indicator alone does not establish a hardware fault.

Compare the power source standard, port status and cabling. If the symptom persists with a known compatible supply, record the status and refer the unit for inspection without improvised adapters.

Why can I control the camera but cannot receive IP video or NDI?

IP control and video transmission are separate functions. For H.264, check enabled transmission and receiver or interface compatibility; a web view without H.264 does not establish an SDI output failure.

For NDI, verify activation and version. Current AW-HE130 support states that free activation firmware is unavailable; do not apply the procedure for AW-UE150 or other models. Check the existing license situation before planning an NDI path.

Why do control and web video work while the switcher receives no SDI?

Compare Frequency and Format with what the switcher input accepts. Distinguish progressive, interlaced and PsF even when the stated resolution is similar.

Check a known compatible receiver and cable. In the manual’s SD modes, HDMI outputs progressive while SDI and VIDEO OUT output interlaced: do not assume every connector carries exactly the same format.

Limits and precautions

Use indoors within 0–40 °C and avoid condensation. Follow the model’s installation and retention instructions.

Do not force the motorized head or disable movement limits to bypass an obstruction. Preserve presets and settings before changing controls.

Do not start with a reset or update. Record version and configuration and check applicable notes; a historical manual does not establish compatibility with current browsers.
