Optoma GT3500HDR

Optoma GT3500HDR: ultra-short-throw laser projection

An option to assess for presentations and audiovisual content with the projector close to the screen, accounting for surface, geometry, and ambient light.

Model and application

GLMedia has added the Optoma GT3500HDR to its equipment. Ask about availability and configuration for your date. It is a Full HD DuraCore laser ultra-short-throw model, distinct from a conventional short-throw projector.

Signal and optics

Image
1920 × 1080 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio. Optoma specifies 3800 lumens; that unit is not automatically converted to ANSI lumens.
Optics and screen
Throw ratio 0.253:1; specified screen range of 80–130 inches diagonal. Check placement using the model’s diagram and chosen surface.
Connections
HDMI for sources; USB-A for accessory power, audio output, and control connections. Confirm proposed accessories separately.

System preparation

  1. Share the date, venue, approximate screen width and height, audience, and content; a room photo is enough to begin assessment.
  2. Choose a flat, stable surface. Check placement, height, and beam path before making digital image adjustments.
  3. Prepare a test with a grid, real text, and video; check focus at center and corners and light falling on the screen.
  4. Test direct HDMI and audio separately; then add adapters or presentation devices and record the agreed settings.

Planning questions

When is ultra-short throw useful for an event?

It can be an option when conventional projection needs more room depth or you want to reduce the beam’s path through the room. It requires precise placement near the screen. We can compare the package with short throw, a display, or LED according to space, content, and light.

How much space is needed between the housing and screen?

Throw ratio uses an optical reference and is not the gap from the housing’s edge. A quote uses image size and the model’s installation diagram, plus space for the unit, height, cables, and ventilation. Multiplying width by throw ratio alone does not establish a suitable cabinet or mount.

Will any ALR screen work?

Check that the surface manufacturer supports ultra-short-throw projection and the intended orientation. Material designed for another angle may distribute light incorrectly. We can assess a compatible surface or another screen and placement; an ALR label alone is insufficient.

Does corner correction replace moving the projector?

It is a digital adjustment for refining geometry. Check level, placement, and surface flatness first; an image adjustment does not establish optical lens shift. If a menu is missing, record the model and firmware before changing or updating the unit.

What if the presentation works but the video does not?

Check the file, application, computer output, and signal format over direct HDMI; then add the adapter and transport. For protected content, verify a compatible chain without bypassing protection. Also check audio output and its connection to the sound system.

Can I book a solution before drawings or the program are ready?

We can start a proposal with the date, venue, audience, and approximate needs. We assess rental, screen, installation, configuration, and technical support. The package and date-specific availability are confirmed after reviewing event details; adding a model to equipment does not reserve it.

Checks by symptom

Checks by symptom
Trapezoidal image or blurred cornersCheck physical placement, level, and surface with a pattern before applying digital correction.
No source imageSelect the connected input, check output, and test a known direct cable; reintroduce adapter and transport in stages.
Washed-out image with lights onAssess light falling on the screen using real content; compare lighting control, image size, or another technology.

Use and safety

Do not look into the beam or allow anyone to lean into its path; keep the projection area clear.

Confirm mounting, orientation, and clearances using the exact manual and unit. Use suitable power and mounting equipment without blocking ventilation or opening the unit.
