Ikan PT1200: signal, mirroring, and reading

Ask GLMedia about rental options for a teleprompter system. We review availability, configuration, and alternatives for your event.

Model and use

With the date, location, and intended use, we can review which equipment and combination can be offered. You can inquire before measurements, drawings, or the final schedule are ready.

Ikan PT1200 is a camera teleprompter with a 12-inch monitor and adjustable glass. It reflects the script in front of the lens so the presenter can read while looking toward the camera.

The base kit uses rods and a camera plate; PT1200-TK adds a travel case. PT1200-LS is a stand variant with different mounting. A family name does not establish accessories or available equipment.

Signal, script, and mounting

Monitor and signal
1024×768 panel with a native 4:3 aspect ratio. HDMI, VGA, and BNC composite video inputs. That BNC does not accept SDI; similar connectors do not establish signal compatibility.
Script and mirroring
The computer sends the script as a video image. The monitor can flip horizontally, vertically, or both using FLIP after menu configuration. Check reading in the glass, not only on the monitor.
Mounting
15 mm rod system and height-adjustable camera base. The guide specifies an ideal glass angle of 45 degrees; align it for the lens and reader position.

What to prepare

Computer with compatible video output, script, and prompting software tested on its operating system; assigned operator and speed control. Historically included software does not establish current computer compatibility.

Suitable support for camera and assembly, power matching the monitor label, and identified cables. Rehearse reading and framing with the actual presenter.

Basic preparation

  1. Identify PT1200, monitor, power supply, and mount. Check power against that revision’s label before connecting.
  2. Fit rods and plate as shown in the guide, adjust spacing for the camera, and secure screws. Align lens and glass and attach the magnetic hood.
  3. Connect compatible computer video and select HDMI, VGA, or AV to match the cable. Prepare the script without overlapping windows or alerts.
  4. Configure FLIP-H or FLIP-V in MENU > SYSTEM CONFIG and test the FLIP button. Check reflected text with the reader to avoid double mirroring in software and monitor.
  5. Rehearse text size, margins, speed, pause, and restart. Check the camera image for reflections or mounting components in frame.

Three technical questions

Why does FLIP not change the image?

The guide requires enabling FLIP-H and/or FLIP-V in SYSTEM CONFIG before using the button. Select the needed direction and check the result in the glass.

Also check whether the software already mirrors the text. Keep a configuration that produces the correct orientation for the reader.

Why is the monitor powered but the script is missing?

Check selected input, active computer output, and supported monitor format. The PT1200 BNC is composite video, not SDI.

Separate power from signal: a lit indicator does not prove video is present. Test source and cable in a known path without opening the monitor.

What should I check if reading works but the frame edge appears on camera?

Adjust camera spacing and height on the base, plus glass and hood position as directed in the guide. Check framing with the actual lens and zoom.

Rehearse again from the presenter position. Reading comfort and camera framing are separate checks; mounting a camera on the plate does not establish compatibility.

Limits and precautions

Do not apply another revision’s or replacement monitor’s power range to the actual unit. Check label, power supply, and polarity.

Secure glass, hood, camera, and support before use; prevent cable strain on the assembly. Follow the exact kit’s mounting instructions.

Reading distance depends on text, lighting, and reader. Test the final script; a catalog distance is not a readability guarantee.
