Ikan Aura PT421W-PTZ: script, camera, and variants

Ask GLMedia about rental options for a teleprompter system. We review availability, configuration, and alternatives for your event.

Model and use

With the date, location, and intended use, we can review which equipment and combination can be offered. You can inquire before measurements, drawings, or the final schedule are ready.

This guide’s documented reference is Ikan Aura PT421W-PTZ: a 21-inch teleprompter with a hood housing a PTZ camera behind the glass. A computer feeds the script monitor; camera video and control remain separate paths.

PT421W-PTZ is the base kit; TM adds a talent return monitor and TK a travel case. TM-TK combines both. Check the actual SKU before assuming a second monitor or case is included.

Signal, script, and mounting

Script monitor
1920×1080, 16:9 panel with a stated maximum brightness of 1000 cd/m². SDI, HDMI, and VGA inputs. Prepare script and computer output for the actual monitor; this input is separate from camera video.
Glass and camera
Manufacturer-designated 65/35 glass, adjustable base, and PTZ hood. Compatibility requires checking height, lens position, and clearance throughout planned moves.
Return and tally
The additional monitor belongs to the TM kit. Return and tally need compatible connections of their own; camera video does not establish script, return, or status indication.

What to prepare

Identified PTZ camera and support, monitor and power supply, computer with tested software, and text operator. Check total load and balance against the exact support.

Define what the presenter sees in the glass and, with an additional monitor, the required return. Plan camera signal, control, and power cables clear of movement.

Basic preparation

  1. Identify PT421W-PTZ and TM/TK suffixes. Compare parts and mounting with the actual kit manual before assembly.
  2. Follow the guide for glass, mounts, and monitor. Keep at least 2 inches of rod inside the base; secure screws, locks, and balance before use.
  3. Attach the camera to the PTZ riser, locate it in the base, and close the hood as directed. Route cables through the rear opening and check they do not pull on the camera.
  4. Connect the script to SDI, HDMI, or VGA and select the input. Configure FLIP and check reading in the glass; avoid double inversion between software and monitor.
  5. Rehearse planned PTZ presets and zoom plus script pause and speed. Check framing, reading, and return at their actual destinations.

Three technical questions

Can any PTZ camera move freely inside the hood?

Identify camera, lens, and riser before mounting. A general compatibility description does not establish compatibility with every camera or its full travel.

Test planned presets at a controlled speed during rehearsal and check clearance, cables, and framing. Adjust the setup before operating for an audience.

Why does the presenter see program instead of the script?

Separate computer script output from switcher return output. Check which cable feeds the reflected monitor and which feeds the TM kit’s additional monitor.

Show different references on each path and check both from the presenter position. The camera can deliver video while the script is routed elsewhere.

How do I correct mirrored or cropped text?

Check monitor FLIP-H/FLIP-V and software mirroring. Inspect the reflected result before committing the setting.

Compare output resolution, aspect, and script margins with the widescreen monitor. Another monitor family’s settings do not establish the correct configuration.

Limits and precautions

Use exact support and kit documentation for mounting and load; rod diameter does not establish capacity.

Before moving or disassembling, protect glass and camera and remove them as directed. Keep transport foam and check whether the SKU includes a case.

Do not guarantee reading from catalog distance or maximum brightness. Rehearse text, lighting, position, and camera with the actual presenter.
