Gallagher transparent platforms: evaluate an 8 × 4 ft proposal
Gallagher calls its Plexi staging Lexan staging. The family is documented, but the exact transparent 8 × 4 ft deck drawing, surface specification and support requirements remain unconfirmed. This is a selection guide, not a released equipment specification.
Identify the surface and intended use
Ask GLMedia about rental options for your event. The proposal is subject to availability, confirmation of the model and configuration, and the venue’s technical requirements.

Nominal module and documentation
- Nominal planning module
- 8 × 4 ft / 2.4384 × 1.2192 m
- Material / selection
- Lexan as identified by Gallagher; do not substitute a clear-acrylic specification.
A nominal module size does not establish load capacity, permitted occupancy or suitability for dancing. Confirm the exact surface, support layout, finished height and intended activity with the manufacturer and responsible designer.
Deck, finish and supports
Specify the deck reference, surface variant, legs or understructure, connections, bracing, access and edge treatment as one assembly. Do not replace the top of an existing deck on the basis of size alone.
Draw joints, finished transitions, cable routes and any lighting below the floor. Coordinate equipment access and ventilation without removing supports or modifying the frame.
Checks before use
- Identify the intended activity, footwear, simultaneous movements, furniture and equipment. Distinguish social dancing, choreographed performance and display use.
- Compare delivered components with the applicable manual and project drawing before assembly; resolve missing parts or an unidentified surface.
- Before release, check specified supports, connections, finish attachment and transitions. Isolate a raised edge, open joint, displaced panel or unresolved damage.
- After acceptance, rehearse the approved activity with representative footwear and show lighting. Resolve glare, confusing edges or unsuitable surface behaviour before the event.
Three technical questions
Can we use the standard plywood deck drawing?
No. It does not establish the transparent surface, its retention or the applicable support layout. Obtain the matching transparent-variant drawing before specifying a build.
Does the Plexi name establish acrylic?
No. Gallagher explicitly identifies this family as Lexan. Record the actual supplied surface reference, thickness and manufacturer documentation.
What is needed before this becomes a usable equipment specification?
Obtain the exact part reference, current drawing and manual, surface construction, supports, connections and permitted loads for the proposed activity. Until those match the delivered equipment, do not assign a capacity or claim dance suitability.
Use and maintenance
Use the cleaning products and maintenance procedure specified for the identified surface. Do not add polish, solvents, adhesive films or coatings without confirming compatibility and the effect on walking or dancing.
Do not derive suitability for repeated impacts, heels, jumps or outdoor conditions from a static distributed-load rating. A rehearsal is not a structural load test.
