Truss and rigging

Identify truss before selecting tables or assembling it

Match the physical module, connection system and inspection record to its documentation.

Establish module identity

Ask GLMedia about rental options for your event. The proposal is subject to availability, confirmation of the model and configuration, and the venue’s technical requirements.

Record manufacturer, series, module length, production identification and connector type. A similar section or an apparently matching pin does not establish structural compatibility. Keep unidentified material out of the proposed assembly pending confirmation.

Product documents and inspection records

Documentation example
Prolyte separates general instructions from product-specific data. Use the documentation for the identified family.
Inspection records
Keep a traceable record for each module. A dated inspection report is different from a generic product certificate.

Acceptance criteria depend on the actual product and applicable inspection procedure. Do not assign capacity or remaining life from appearance, age or a generic table.

Inspection inputs and segregation

Prepare the correct manuals and load tables, module identification, connection hardware list, inspection history and a way to segregate questionable material. A qualified inspector needs access and the appropriate measuring methods.

For the cited Prolyte system, the manual requires signed and dated records of initial and periodic inspections. Link each finding and disposition to the individual module identifier. A product certificate alone does not record the current condition of that physical piece.

Record findings before disposition

  1. Compare identification and geometry with the manufacturer’s documents before selecting the load case.
  2. Check for visible deformation, cracks, corrosion, weld irregularities, connector damage and missing or incorrect hardware; stop if condition or identity is uncertain.
  3. Record the module, location of any finding, photographs, date and responsible reviewer. Follow the applicable inspection and disposition procedure.

Three technical questions

The labels are missing. Can section size identify the series?

No. Preserve available markings and records and refer identification to the manufacturer or representative. Do not copy a label from a similar module.

The dent looks small. Can capacity simply be reduced?

Do not invent a reduction. Remove the module from use and obtain assessment against the applicable manufacturer’s criteria.

Can a bent connector be straightened or a crack welded on site?

Do not improvise a repair. Consult the manufacturer and follow its approved repair or retirement process before any return to service.

Limits before installation

Do not force incompatible connections, conceal findings with paint or return isolated pieces to usable stock without documented disposition. Inspection does not approve a different structural design.
