Epson PowerLite L690U
Epson PowerLite L690U: hotel conference projection
A corporate option for comparing placement, image size, and readability under actual room lighting.
Model and application
US PowerLite L690U V11HB29020: laser 3LCD, WUXGA 1920 × 1200. Optics and functions are not inherited from L630U or L790U.
Signal and optics
- Optics
- Throw 1.35–2.20, manual optical zoom 1.6x, vertical lens shift ±50%, horizontal ±20%. Extreme positions may not combine; use the manual’s diagram.
- Signal
- HDMI input and output, plus HDBaseT. Check the monitor output and projector transport with the actual receivers.
System preparation
- Sketch image width, possible lens position, height, and circulation.
- Choose placement and surface; adjust optics before digital correction. For accuracy, Epson specifies 30 minutes of operation before focus, zoom, and lens shift adjustment.
- Test source, cabling, and audio; save settings and graphics before system changes.
- Rehearse slides and video from audience positions under planned lighting and define source changes.
Planning questions
Can we start before the projection position is known?
Photos and approximate measurements let us compare placements. Calculate throw from useful width and confirm in the model’s table; allow space for cabinet, connections, and ventilation.
Does lens shift avoid tilting the projector?
It moves the image optically within the permitted area. Level and position the unit first; if the range is insufficient, assess another location or optics rather than stacking digital corrections.
Does a 4K signal make the projected image 4K?
Native resolution is WUXGA. Check the supported input format and sample slides; small text may need redesign, a different image size, or additional displays.
What if too much light reaches the screen?
Consider curtains, revised lighting, a smaller image, or display/LED. Audience distance and content matter; nominal brightness does not guarantee contrast in every room.
What if focus changes after startup?
Allow the specified warm-up and check pattern, focus ring, and stable placement. Separate focus from source resolution; compare the internal image before diagnosing a fault.
What should a conference proposal include?
Define screen, signal, sound, placement, and presenter changes as well as the projector. Ask about rental or purchase, installation, setup, or operation with the date, venue, and tentative program.
Checks by symptom
| Soft text | Pattern and focus after warm-up, then signal and scaling. |
|---|---|
| Black output monitor | Output assignment, format, receiver, cable, and adapter compatibility. |
Use and safety
Keep beam and ventilation clear; do not look into the lens or open the laser assembly.
Use the exact manual and mounting hardware with qualified personnel. A photo or connector shape does not establish a safe mounting arrangement.
