Epson EB-L630U

Epson EB-L630U: conference projection and screen changes

Plan projection, placement, and signal for a conference room, and compare what changes when another screen is needed.

Model and application

EB-L630U is a WUXGA LCD laser projector. The European reference reviewed is V11HA26040, listed as discontinued; the North American manual includes the PowerLite EB-L630U designation. Confirm region and unit to assess an existing system or compare a current alternative.

Signal and optics

Image
1920 × 1200 pixels; native 16:10 aspect ratio. Prepare content for the agreed visible area.
Optics
Throw ratio 1.35–2.20:1, manual optical zoom, and lens shift. Moving image position does not provide unlimited resizing.
Signal
HDMI for a direct source and HDBaseT with a compatible transmitter for another path. LAN, service, and audio connections have distinct functions.

System preparation

  1. Share the date, venue, available width and height, light on the screen, and back row. A sketch or photos let us start a proposal.
  2. Define screen and optical position, allowing for the housing, cables, ventilation, and access.
  3. Adjust optical size and focus before digital geometry. Save settings before changing Screen Type: the manual states that it resets Geometry Correction.
  4. Test a representative slide and video with the intended computer; rehearse audio and source changes with the operator.

Planning questions

What do we need for a conference before drawings are ready?

Start with a photo, approximate screen width, audience layout, and presentation type. Compare screen, projector position, and signal path, then complete the measurements that establish optics before installation. The proposal can include equipment, installation, configuration, and operation.

Can we use a larger screen without moving the projector?

Check the new aspect ratio and diagonal against the model’s table and available zoom. If the range is insufficient, assess placement, another screen, or another projector; digital correction does not create optical range. Reassess readability and light falling on the larger image as well.

How do we use a published distance when changing the screen?

Use the diagram’s optical reference and the row for the chosen aspect ratio. Diagonal alone does not describe width; a different screen shape changes the comparison. Check the result with the actual unit before permanently fixing a mount.

Are lens shift and geometry correction the same?

Lens shift optically changes image position within its limits. Digital corrections reshape the image. Find viable placement and optical adjustment first, then check text detail and framing with the required corrections.

Can the HDBaseT cable connect to any network port?

Identify the HDBaseT port and compatible transmitter; connector shape does not establish function. The manual requires the projector and transmitter to be off when connecting or disconnecting that link. Check control communication settings too, as they can change which control ports remain active.

What if the computer image is missing but the menu appears?

Check selected input, computer output, and direct HDMI with a known cable. If it works, reintroduce adapter and transport in stages. For cropping, check format and screen settings before changing the mount; check missing audio separately.

Checks by symptom

Checks by symptom
New screen will not fillCompare aspect ratio, distance, and optical zoom; distinguish insufficient range from a format setting.
Image moves but does not reach the needed sizeSeparate lens shift from zoom; review placement and the optical table.
Control disappears after changing HDBaseTRecord prior configuration and check which ports the communication setting enables under the manual.

Use and safety

Follow the model’s mounting and ventilation procedure; assess support and power as part of installation. Do not look into the beam.

Preserve settings and signal path before changing size or control. An existing unit’s condition needs a test, not its name or counter alone.
