DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor
DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor: connection and editing preparation
Ask GLMedia about rental options for an editing or replay station. We review availability, configuration, and alternatives for your event.
Model and use
With the date, location, and intended use, we can review which equipment and combination can be offered. You can inquire before measurements, drawings, or the final schedule are ready.
Speed Editor is a panel with a search dial and dedicated keys for editing in DaVinci Resolve. It connects over USB-C or Bluetooth and has an internal battery; it is not a standalone video recorder.
We can help prepare shot selection, editing, and review. Define the intended result to choose a workflow as well as a controller.
Connection and media
- USB-C
- Connects the panel to the computer and charges its battery. Use a data cable and check device recognition.
- Bluetooth
- Provides wireless control using the battery. Check system connection and operation inside Resolve as separate steps.
- Media and output
- Files, storage, and export are managed on the computer. Prepare those paths as well as the panel connection.
What to prepare
Tell us what media you have, approximate duration, intended delivery, and review date. We can start with a sample before all footage is ready.
Record computer, operating system, and Resolve version. Preserve a copy of an existing project before rehearsal.
Basic preparation
- Identify Speed Editor; Replay Editor and Editor Keyboard have different controls.
- Open a test copy with representative media and check that clips are available.
- Test USB-C first with a data cable and Resolve open. Record system recognition and response within the project.
- Use DaVinci Control Panels Setup to inspect the connected device and applicable configuration. Record its version before planning an update.
- Test playback, source or timeline selection, and a simple adjustment. Inspect the on-screen result before proceeding.
- Export a sample and review picture, audio, and duration with the recipient. Keep project and media organized.
Three technical questions
Why does the system detect the panel but Resolve does not respond?
Separate device detection from response within the project. Record connection, versions, and the context in which each control was tested.
Check the data cable and test a direct connection. Share the results so we can guide the next step without clearing settings first.
Why does the dial behave unexpectedly?
The panel offers navigation modes and editing controls. Check the selected mode and whether you are working on source or timeline.
Test a simple action in the project copy. Compare expected and visible results, retaining changes only after review.
Does the panel solve playback stutter or export issues?
The panel controls editing; to investigate uneven playback, test the same clip using the software interface as well.
Share media format, storage, and project setup. We can help organize a test and a review format before final delivery.
Checks by symptom
| Symptom | Check | What it helps distinguish |
|---|---|---|
| Detected but unresponsive | Connection, Resolve, and editing context. | Detection or project control. |
| Unexpected dial behavior | Selected mode and source or timeline. | Navigation or adjustment context. |
| Uneven preview | Same clip through the software interface. | Control or media playback. |
Limits and precautions
Preserve originals and a project copy before testing editing changes. Inspect exported files before replacing a delivery.
Schedule updates outside active work. During a firmware update, the manual requires maintaining connection and power throughout the process.
Test battery life and wireless connection at the planned workstation. Prepare a tested USB-C data cable as an alternative.
