Clear-Com HelixNet: wired production communication

Prepare stations, channels and power around an identified production system.

Ask about rental, purchase or integration

Tell us the use, date and venue, even with an approximate brief. We can assess equipment, integration, preparation and technical support. Configuration, availability and terms are confirmed in the proposal.

Case 31: HMS-4X with HBP-2X generation

This page scopes HelixNet HMS-4X with HBP-2X Powerline beltpacks. It does not transfer Arcadia capacities/licenses or newer HXII-BP functions. HBP-2X has two channel keysets; total system channels/stations depend on version and configuration.

HMS supplies power and digital communication over supported Powerline cabling. XLR does not make it analog partyline: the guide prohibits direct connection to analog two-wire equipment. Other intercom systems need documented interfaces. For Ethernet stations identify module/interface, network and power per model; do not assume HBP-2X PoE.

Prepare stations and channels

  1. List director, cameras, stage and technicians; map who listens and talks. Name channels and assign each pack’s two keysets.
  2. Record central station, firmware, modules and packs. Map lines, branches, cable and power; validate load/distance using manufacturer documentation/calculator for the actual system, not a universal length.
  3. Save configuration and test two-way conversations at protected volume. Keep public program separate and verify Stage Announce as an intentional output.

Case 32: a destination cannot be heard

  1. Identify a complete pack, keyset or colleague failing. Check power/link and exact headset, then assigned channel, listen level and Talk enabled at both ends. Visible Call does not prove voice.
  2. With stable connection and one-way audio inspect assignment/permissions before cabling. For general Powerline failure keep states and isolate the affected branch during protected maintenance per guide; do not trial analog partyline.

Alternatives and inquiry

Evaluate existing equipment, rental/purchase of a supported system and preparation/operation. Compare wireless for moving users and a simpler wired setup for a few fixed positions. Start with date, venue, users and conversations; identify generation, interfaces, cables and checks in the quote.

More setup questions

Does any XLR intercom work on Powerline?

No. Digital HelixNet Powerline and analog partyline cannot connect directly; identify the supported interface.

Does network visibility mean all channels are audible?

No. Check keyset channel, listening, Talk and the colleague’s path, plus power and headset.
