Clear-Com FreeSpeak II: production coordination
Define the base, transceivers, beltpacks and groups for directing, cameras and stage.
Ask about rental, purchase or integration
Tell us the use, date and venue, even with an approximate brief. We can assess equipment, integration, preparation and technical support. Configuration, availability and terms are confirmed in the proposal.
Case 29: select a variant and communication map
This page scopes FSII-BASE-II with E1 transceivers and supported regional FreeSpeak II beltpacks. It does not transfer Arcadia, IP-transceiver or FreeSpeak Icon capabilities; Clear-Com excludes Icon from this base. Identify reference, enabled capacity, firmware, band and headset connectors.
Map who talks and listens: director/cameras, stage/director and agreed common calls. One pack per person does not define groups or permissions. List base, transceivers, supported cables/splitters, packs, batteries/charging, headsets and wired interfaces. E1 on an RJ45 cable is not an ordinary Ethernet port.
Case 30: coverage and intermittent audio
- Map operating zones/routes, doors, audience and obstacles. Separate enabled pack capacity, transceiver loading and actual coverage. Maximum system count does not prove reception at every position.
- Identify one pack, zone or group failing. Check battery, registration, role/keys and transceiver link/power/state against the exact manual. With stable radio but missing colleagues, inspect audio assignment before moving antennas.
- Temporarily place transceivers and perform the documented site survey and voice walk. Record location, transceiver and symptom; compare routes and overlap before final placement. Occupancy and obstacles can alter results.
- Keep configuration and plan changes off-program. For a local problem evaluate location/link or a wired station where practical; do not increase power or change band without design and regional authorization.
Scope around the operation
Evaluate rental, purchase, integration, role preparation and operation. Start with date, venue, approximate users and who needs to talk to whom. Compare wired fixed positions, mobile wireless or a mix. Identify components, capacity and coverage tests without universal range promises.
More setup questions
Are beltpacks alone enough?
The system needs supported base/capacity, transceivers/links, power, headsets and roles, selected for users and zones.
Does higher capacity mean more coverage?
No. Simultaneous users and coverage are separate requirements, checked through transceiver design and a venue walk test.
