COLORado PXL Bar 16: wash, effects and pixel order
Separate useful light from pixel design; check mode, orientation and control allocation before changing the map.
Model and application
An RGBW batten with sixteen cells, motorized tilt and two-section zoom. Evaluate it for stage treatment or effects without confusing the visible cell image with light reaching a face.
This page addresses COLORADOPXLBAR16, not PXL Bar 8 or Curve. Reference: official English Rev14 manual, July 2025, including updated Full PXL values. Confirm fixture software and library revision.
Prepare your inquiry
- Send the date, venue, participant count, movement area and tentative duration. Photos and approximate dimensions are enough to start.
- Identify permitted mounting positions, cameras and existing lights, and what your production supplies.
- GLMedia can evaluate rental and alternatives, mounting, configuration and operation. Model, accessories, availability and scope require proposal confirmation.
Functions and connections
Transport and personality determine which source controls each function. If movement and pixels are split, document each source and which functions remain with the console or pixel system.
The manual provides cell order 1–16 or 16–1. This is separate from physically rotating the bar, reversing tilt or changing display orientation.
Proposed preparation
- Define wash coverage, visible bar imagery or both. Test useful light and glare before approving a position.
- With mounting validated, keep tilt, optics, cables and ventilation clear. Record each bar’s orientation and label a reference end on the sketch.
- Match protocol, mode, address and control allocation. Test one bar by lighting one cell at a time at moderate intensity, checking endpoints and direction.
- Save the approved map, then add the remaining bars. Test macros, transitions and recovery without changing map, patch and content together.
Questions and troubleshooting
Can the same pixel look light a speaker?
Decorative imagery and face coverage are separate jobs. A front-facing effect may create shadows or level changes on people.
- Test the person, movement and camera with the intended effect; compare stable independent face light.
- GLMedia can evaluate decor, reinforcement or separate sources and quote equipment, mounting and operation for the program.
Why does the map run backward or skip a cell?
Check physical reference, order and personality before redrawing. Do not assume identical mounting orientation.
- Isolate one unit and repeat the sequential test. Compare the sketch and exact chart, including cell order and footprint boundaries.
- Change one condition at a time. Before adding other bars, the sequence must match the endpoints and order in the agreed sketch. If it does not, keep the test to one unit and save a labeled example with mode and version for diagnosis.
What is needed to quote a row of bars?
A visual reference and approximate dimensions can start the comparison; a final map is not required.
- Send the date, venue, intended length or zones, positions, outdoor conditions where relevant, and control/content providers.
- The proposal confirms count, mounts, power, data, mapping preparation and operation. Housing IP alone does not approve the entire installation.
Precautions
- For outdoor use, verify the manual, mated connectors, caps and system distribution. IP65 does not approve every exposure or installation.
- Qualified personnel must validate mounting, safety attachments, power and clear movement. Do not use dimmer outputs or route cables through the sweep.
- Do not force tilt or optics. Remove damaged or persistently failing units from service. These checks are proposed, not completed tests.
