Chauvet Professional Cloud 9
Identify the original Cloud 9, check both liquid reservoirs and trace fan and fog channels before changing fluid or overriding a low-level warning.
Ask GLMedia about renting Chauvet Professional Cloud 9 for your event. Availability and configuration are subject to confirmation.
Model and purpose
- Manufacturer
- Chauvet Professional
- Model
- Chauvet Professional Cloud 9
- Variant
- Original Cloud 9; not Cloud 9X IP or Cumulus
- Fixed supply
- 120 VAC / 60 Hz or 230 VAC / 50 Hz according to model; no automatic range
- Separate reservoirs
- Distilled water: 20 L; fog fluid: 3.5 L; observe fill lines
- Control / location
- 2-channel DMX; 3- or 5-pin XLR; local controls; IP20 dry use
An ultrasonic low-lying fogger that uses distilled water and approved fog fluid without dry ice or a CO2 supply. The two liquids have different reservoirs and functions. Rehearse the effect with the room’s actual airflow and floor conditions rather than assuming a guaranteed low layer or coverage area.
Prepare your rental inquiry
- Date, city, venue and setup, event and pickup schedule.
- Intended use, area dimensions and equipment already supplied by the venue or production.
- Effect type, duration and venue ventilation conditions.
- Approved consumable, venue permission and operation required in the proposal.
Specify equipment only or whether setup, programming, operation and strike are also needed. Scope is confirmed in the proposal.
You do not need a final equipment list: tell us the result you want and the part you need help with. Availability and scope are confirmed in the proposal.
Features and connections
The 120 V version uses 2 power cords, each on its own circuit as required by the manual; the 230 V version uses 1. Have qualified personnel check the nameplate and distribution. A power connector’s IP marking does not make the complete machine weatherproof.
Operate level on a suitable floor with casters secured. Fit the directional hose and overflow/drain arrangement without kinks or blocked outlets. Drain the distilled water before transport or storage and keep the fog tank cap upward.
Prepare the system
- Confirm the model and voltage, inspect hoses, tank and cables, and allow the machine to acclimate after a temperature change. Save the existing address, timer and output settings before adjustment.
- Fill each reservoir with its specified liquid, respecting its own maximum line. Use Chauvet-approved fluid, with LLG specified for the low-lying effect; do not fill the water reservoir with fog fluid.
- Agree an attended low-output test with the venue, including detection, visibility, wet-floor checks and stopping the effect. Wait for Ready to Go Low rather than relying only on elapsed warm-up time.
Questions and troubleshooting
The display shows low liquid or the machine will not fog: which tank should I inspect?
Fog Fluid Low and Distill H2O Low refer to different reservoirs. A full fog-fluid tank does not establish enough distilled water.
- Read the exact message. For Fog Fluid Low inspect the fog-fluid tank, pickup hoses and level; for Distill H2O Low inspect the distilled-water reservoir and its fill line.
- Check for a kinked fluid hose and excess water. Overfilling the water tank can reduce performance; remove excess through the documented drain before continuing.
- Keep the fluid sensor enabled. If the warning remains with correct levels, stop and arrange service rather than bypassing the sensor. Failure to Heat also calls for service.
Fan and fog seem reversed, or the machine starts a timer on reboot: what should I compare?
The Cloud 9 channel order is fan first, fog second. A profile copied from another hazer can reverse those functions.
- Compare the console’s first channel with Fan Speed and the following channel with Fog Output. For the complete footprint in one universe, use a starting address no higher than 511.
- Check Timer, Direct Timer and local output settings before a restart. Timer mode can persist after power is removed; press the documented STOP control and verify the stopped state in the test.
- Compare the actual revision and raw console output. The published chart contains an invalid upper DMX value; obtain a corrected map before building exact parameter ranges rather than copying that figure.
Fog rises into the room or the floor becomes wet: what is a useful check?
The visible result depends on fluid, water level, airflow and the cue. Low-lying fog does not guarantee a dry floor or permanent ground coverage.
- Verify approved low-lying fluid and correct water level. Compare a short low-output cue with the planned fan setting and hose position; do not improvise a fluid mixture from a forum report.
- Rehearse with the venue’s normal airflow and the expected activity on stage. Coordinate any ventilation change with the responsible team and check visibility beyond the effect area.
- Inspect the outlet, underside and walking surface for condensation. Stop if the surface becomes slippery or liquid leaks; protect the circulation area and investigate before repeating the cue.
Quick reference
| Example start | Fan | Fog |
|---|---|---|
| 001 | 001 | 002 |
| 511 | 511 | 512 |
Precautions
- Use grounded protected mains, never a dimmer or rheostat. Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker; stop for damaged hoses, cables, tanks or serious faults.
- Keep ventilation clear and avoid contact with the hot nozzle, including after shutdown. Water in the reservoir does not mean the machine is suitable for rain or wet locations.
- Follow the maintenance and storage instructions for the actual revision. The current manual specifies Chauvet FCQ/CF250 cleaning products; do not transfer another manufacturer’s procedure or leave the machine running dry.
