Compact is distinct from WING Rack and full-size WING. Identify firmware and installed AoIP/expansion options; Ethernet sockets alone do not prove Dante.
Connections and required equipment
Source → selected MAIN/ALT channel input → processing/bus → assigned physical output. AES50 stagebox links, network control, USB-B computer audio and local recorders are separate paths.
Prepare the system
- Back up the show and label source, channel, bus and destination.
- Protect outputs; confirm supported stagebox, cable, clock and port.
- Test one source at controlled level; rehearse MAIN/ALT and record/playback changes.
Questions and troubleshooting
Source meters, but the channel is silent.
Source and channel assignments are distinct.
- Compare selected MAIN/ALT and the channel source; then channel mute, bus and output meters.
- If the channel starts metering, continue downstream rather than repatching the source. Verify the intended destination; retain unresolved patch/status for support.
The stagebox links, but its output is silent.
A link is not an output assignment.
- Trace bus → output routing → intended AES50 port/channel → rack outlet; check clock/status.
- Correct only the agreed mapping and verify that outlet at protected level. Unresolved link/clock errors need the exact topology for support.
A recording file exists, but contains silence.
Identify computer USB, USB recorder or SD recorder first.
- Inspect that recorder’s feed and meters; do not assume it follows the main output.
- Record a short rehearsal, stop normally and listen back. For computer playback, check its output and the USB source patch separately; retain failed-test details for support.
Choose the next check
| Observation | Next check | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| Source only | MAIN/ALT and channel | Source/channel map |
| Silent rack outlet | AES50 output assignment | Port/channel/outlet |
| Silent file | Recorder feed | Recorder type and playback result |
Precautions
- Use documented shielded AES50 cabling; do not connect it through an ordinary Ethernet switch.
- Coordinate shared gain/phantom and protect destinations.
- Do not reset, update or switch all sources during the show as a diagnostic shortcut.
