Lighting and control
Astera QuikSpot
Prepare the QuikSpot Fresnel with manual zoom, a defined control source and recorded output and battery settings.
Ask GLMedia about renting Astera QuikSpot for your event. Availability and configuration are subject to confirmation.
Model and purpose
- Manufacturer
- Astera
- Model
- Astera QuikSpot
- Model
- QuikSpot AST-QUKSP; Titan LED Engine RGBMintAmber
- Optics
- Fresnel with manual 13°–60° zoom
- Power
- Battery or 100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz; TRUE1 In / Out
- Control
- XLR DMX, CRMX, RDM and AsteraApp through integrated BTB
A compact spot for uplighting, people, objects and scenery, with battery power and a removable yoke. Zoom is adjusted by turning the front: the range does not imply a motorized DMX zoom channel. Choose accessories for coverage, mounting and spill control.
Prepare your rental inquiry
- Date, city, venue and setup, event and pickup schedule.
- Intended use, area dimensions and equipment already supplied by the venue or production.
- Color, brightness and total powered time, including checks and waiting.
- Chargers or case, compatible control, placement and replacement plan.
Specify equipment only or whether setup, programming, operation and strike are also needed. Scope is confirmed in the proposal.
You do not need a final equipment list: tell us the result you want and the part you need help with. Availability and scope are confirmed in the proposal.
Features and connections
The RGBMintAmber engine produces white and color; OutputGain prioritizes brightness or rendering quality depending on its setting. Compare actual results for camera use.
5-pin connections carry wired DMX; BTB connects the app to the Astera system. These functions differ from linking a CRMX transmitter.
ChargingPlate, PrepBox, TrackPin Compact, FlexCover and barndoors have different roles. Do not assume every accessory is included.
Prepare the system
- Check charge, nameplate and firmware. A new fixture needs a few seconds connected to charging to leave shipping mode before it can turn on.
- Select Input Select and record the fixture’s DMX profile, address and footprint. Match the console personality; do not substitute another Astera model’s chart.
- Adjust zoom by turning the front with the area clear. Secure both sides of the yoke and accessories before testing output.
Questions and troubleshooting
Connected to BTB, but not controlling the intended light?
Connecting a bridge and pairing lights are separate steps.
- With the light on, hold its power button for 3 seconds for BlueMode. In AsteraApp, Manage Bluetooth Bridges allows adding the bridge.
- Then use Pair with Lights for the intended fixtures and check Input Select. The Bluetooth icon confirms the bridge; it does not establish that every fixture is paired or receiving CRMX.
- If the console is the source, check its transmitter, CRMX link and profile. Isolate a fixture with known wired DMX to separate the radio path from the patch.
Do brightness or color change after a reset?
Reset also changes settings that affect output and consumption.
- Compare OutputGain before and after. The manual associates enabled mode with greater brightness and disabled mode with improved color rendering.
- Check Input Select and Runtime: reset returns them to AUTO and 5 h. Record the intended configuration before clearing settings.
- Compare on the same surface and with the actual camera when relevant. Do not compensate for OutputGain by editing palettes before identifying the cause.
Short runtime, or does charging not begin?
Evaluate runtime, intensity and temperature together.
- Plan with a charged battery and actual output level. Published maximum runtime does not mean maximum brightness throughout that period.
- Check charging status on the display. If hot, switch off and allow cooling with ventilation; do not bypass protection or open the battery.
- Charge with the case open, under supervision and preferably at 15–35 °C. Do not store discharged; follow the manual’s battery maintenance.
Quick reference
| Item | Role | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Yoke / TrackPin | Compatible mounting | Latches and fastening |
| Rear eyelet | Fixture safety | Independent safety wire |
| Barndoor SafetyLink | Accessory retention | Does not replace fixture safety |
| FlexCover | Visual finish | Does not replace support or ventilation |
Precautions
- IP65, ambient 0–40 °C; do not immerse or use as a permanent installation. Maintain compatible connectors and protection.
- For suspension, attach the safety wire to the rear eyelet and limit potential drop to 20 cm as instructed. Installation requires qualified personnel.
- Keep 0.3 m from illuminated objects; avoid contact with hot surfaces and allow cooling before handling. Do not cover ventilation.
Terms on this page
- DMX
- A data protocol controlling lighting functions; each model defines what its channels mean.
- RDM
- Management communication for querying or configuring compatible equipment over a compatible path.
- Patch
- Assignment of fixture, profile, address and universe in the control system.
- Personality
- A control mode defining the channels and functions used by a fixture.
