Lighting and control

Astera AX5 TriplePAR

Prepare the original AX5, separate app communication from CRMX pairing, and check runtime, profile and filters before the event.

Ask GLMedia about renting Astera AX5 TriplePAR for your event. Availability and configuration are subject to confirmation.

Model and purpose

Manufacturer
Astera
Model
Astera AX5 TriplePAR
Variant
Original RGBAW AX5; check whether the nameplate says AX5-BTB
Power
Internal battery or 90–264 VAC, 47–63 Hz; TRUE1 In / Out
Control
5-pin XLR DMX, CRMX, app through a compatible bridge and infrared
Environment
IP65 with appropriate connections; ambient 0–40 °C

A compact PAR for uplighting, stage lighting and wall washing, running on battery or wired power. The original AX5 requires a compatible bridge for AsteraApp; do not attribute the BTB version’s BluetoothBridge to it.

Prepare your rental inquiry

Specify equipment only or whether setup, programming, operation and strike are also needed. Scope is confirmed in the proposal.

You do not need a final equipment list: tell us the result you want and the part you need help with. Availability and scope are confirmed in the proposal.

Features and connections

The removable bracket and kickstand adjust the installation. Check that the bracket and filter are locked before moving the fixture.

A filter changes beam distribution, not the DMX profile. XLR and power connectors serve different purposes.

The status display identifies the active input. App Radio PIN and CRMX pairing are separate controls.

Prepare the system

  1. Check nameplate, firmware and battery state. Select bracket and filter; keep the beam away from eyes and ventilation clear.
  2. Select the intended source in INPUT SELECT. AUTO latches the first active source until selection changes or power is cycled; do not assume wired priority.
  3. Confirm profile, Strobe, address and channel assignment in DMX Configuration. Reserve the footprint for that configuration and test an isolated fixture.

Questions and troubleshooting

Can the app see the fixture, but color changes or CRMX pairing fail?

Sending settings does not establish which source controls output.

  1. Read the active source and leave Standby if appropriate. Select APP CONTROL, Wired DMX or CRMX for the intended test.
  2. To use another transmitter, remove the earlier link with UNPAIR CRMX during preparation and pair the compatible transmitter. RESET SETTINGS retains CRMX pairing and Radio PIN.
  3. For wired faults, compare with a known DMX source and cable. Do not update firmware or erase all settings as the first diagnostic step.
Does output dim early, or does charging not finish?

RUNTIME is an output budget calculated for a full battery.

  1. Charge beforehand and include setup and testing in event time. Longer RUNTIME reduces available power; it does not promise full brightness throughout.
  2. Compare actual charge, temperature and the program used. Cold affects runtime and heat can reduce output or pause charging.
  3. Charge in an open, ventilated case; prefer ambient 15–35 °C. Respect TOO HOT, TOO COLD or ERROR messages and refer persistent faults to service without bypassing protection.
Does output hold a color or become white on signal loss?

Separate data loss from loss of AC supply.

  1. Check DMX FAIL: HOLD retains output, BLACK blacks out and STANDALONE restores the local program. Confirm the choice before disconnecting the source in a test.
  2. EMERGENCY LIGHT selects white; also check AC FAILURE. That menu name does not establish certification as the venue’s emergency lighting.
  3. For an earlier look, check INPUT SELECT and the local program. Entering STATIC COLOR changes standalone settings; record them before using it to troubleshoot.
