ARRI SkyPanel S60-C: interviews, panels and versions
Define diffusion and support for the actual package, and preserve version and settings before importing a configuration.
Model and application
A SkyPanel Classic soft panel for evaluating interview, panel and background light. This is S60-C, not S60-RP or SkyPanel X. Identify head, power supply, head cable, support and diffusion before comparing packages.
The official January 2024 manual describes firmware 4.4; it does not establish installed rental-unit software. Another generation’s or S360-C’s menus do not prove S60-C functionality.
Prepare your inquiry
- Send the date, venue, participant count, movement area and tentative duration. Photos and approximate dimensions are enough to start.
- Identify permitted mounting positions, cameras and existing lights, and what your production supplies.
- GLMedia can evaluate rental and alternatives, mounting, configuration and operation. Model, accessories, availability and scope require proposal confirmation.
Functions and connections
Select compatible diffusion and accessories for the shot; panel size alone does not guarantee coverage of every seat. Record distance and spill control.
Separate firmware version, DMX Protocol Version, mode and console profile. Importing settings does not replace verifying the package.
Proposed preparation
- Request label, support and accessory photos and note the version before changes. Have the qualified lead prepare power and mounting under applicable installation documentation.
- With a stand-in, compare key, fill or background use with the selected diffusion. Check shadows, reflections and endpoints from every camera.
- Save references and configuration before importing. Check mode, protocol version, color parameters and signal-loss behavior after changes.
- Test levels and transitions with camera and audio. Save a useful recovery state and keep updates or maintenance outside the show.
Questions and troubleshooting
Can one S60-C light a multi-person panel?
Evaluate area, distance, background and shots. Seat count does not define a universal panel count.
- Check turns, shadows, reflections and background spill with people in each seat. Compare diffusion and position before raising level.
- GLMedia can evaluate one source, additional zones or independent face/background lighting. Send date, photos and tentative dimensions for equipment and support options.
Why does a unit have different menus or respond differently to the same show?
Identify model, firmware, protocol version and mode before copying configurations.
- Compare a simple scene with known data and fixed camera. Identical palette names do not prove matching channels or color space.
- Preserve the initial state and adapt profile/preparation to the documented version. Do not start with a show-time reset or update.
Does cloning settings also prepare patch, and can we do it live?
No. In FW4.4, fixture-settings files exclude DMX address and IP. The manual warns that maintenance/USB during sACN control may interrupt light.
- Prepare backups outside the show and verify signal parameters not transferred. Do not attach USB to investigate during a speech.
- GLMedia can evaluate configured delivery and rehearsal or event operation. Versions, control sources, accessories and responsibilities require confirmation.
Precautions
- The manual specifies indoor use. Do not transfer outdoor-model conditions or improvise protective covers.
- Qualified personnel must verify mounts, safety attachments and power for the actual unit and accessories; do not feed it from a dimmer output.
- Keep movement clear, follow ventilation and manual restrictions, and avoid direct eye exposure. Persistent errors or damage require removal from service, not field opening or recalibration.
