Lighting and control

ADJ WMX1 Mk3

Prepare WMX1 Mk3 by distinguishing power, MIDI and universes. Check profiles and Clusters availability against installed firmware.

Ask GLMedia about renting ADJ WMX1 Mk3 for your event. Availability and configuration are subject to confirmation.

Model and purpose

Manufacturer
ADJ
Model
ADJ WMX1 Mk3
Model
WMX1 Mk3; WMX300
Power
USB-C; 5 V, 900 mA
With peripherals
1500 mA recommended for MIDI/WLINK
Organization
8 groups

Standalone controller for running effects and recalling live looks. USB-C identifies this generation; fixture operation depends on the matching profile, mode and patch, while new features must be checked against installed firmware.

Prepare your rental inquiry

Specify equipment only or whether setup, programming, operation and strike are also needed. Scope is confirmed in the proposal.

You do not need a final equipment list: tell us the result you want and the part you need help with. Availability and scope are confirmed in the proposal.

Features and connections

It provides 2 XLR outputs with 3 pins, 1 output with 5 pins and 1 connector with 5 pins shared with WLINK/input. USB-A supports compatible MIDI and storage devices.

ADJ confirms 2 base universes, expandable to 4 through license options. Connector count does not establish additional universe entitlements.

Prepare the system

  1. Check the unit label and power supply: USB-C requires adequate power, particularly with peripherals. Record the version in Settings and back up projects and profiles before changes.
  2. From HOME, open Fixtures. Add the exact model and mode; assign a group, universe and address matching the light. Clear the movement area before testing Pan/Tilt limits.
  3. In Settings, check the XLR A–D destinations and WLINK mode. Review entitlements in WTOOLS without buying options as a diagnostic step.

Questions and troubleshooting

Does it restart or lose response when MIDI is connected?

Check power separately from port function first.

  1. Check the USB-C supply and cable; ADJ recommends 1500 mA for MIDI/WLINK. Do not use a supply with a different voltage.
  2. Connect a compatible MIDI controller to USB-A. Having USB-C does not establish that it accepts MIDI input.
  3. With the show stopped, compare operation without the peripheral and check Mappings: Note/CC, channel and device index. Do not reset the controller without backups.
Can a ring or strobe not be controlled separately?

Clusters requires firmware and a profile describing those sections.

  1. Confirm the exact firmware and profile before changing the patch. A profile with distinct elements is different from dividing equal beams.
  2. As of 2026-10-22, ADJ marks Clusters as beta and announces an official release for November 2026. Do not assume stable availability from the Mk3 name.
  3. Keep a working project and test the separation outside the show before relying on it.
Is data visible onscreen but an output unresponsive?

Trace the path from profile to connector.

  1. Match universe, address and channel mode. Check universe entitlement and XLR mapping.
  2. If the shared connector receives WLINK or DMX IN, check its mode before using it as an output.
  3. In DMX Values, use Test on a known channel and restore its current value. Default changes the starting value: it is not the test-release control.
