Absen PL2.5 Pro — 1/20
Absen PL2.5 Pro 1/20: V10, V2, NovaStar and Brompton

Which panel does this guide cover?
With the date, location, and intended use, we can review which equipment and combination can be offered. You can inquire before measurements, drawings, or the final schedule are ready.
The Absen PL2.5 Pro is an indoor modular LED panel for video walls. This guide compares documented 1/20-scan versions of V10 and V2. A panel name or scan ratio alone does not identify its receiver, firmware or electrical configuration.
Treat the following as separate document revisions. They describe reference products, not a verified inventory unit. The 1/8 V10 version and PL2.5 XR V2 are outside this guide.
Differences that matter
- V10 • 1/20 • V20221215
- 500 × 500 × 88 mm; 200 × 200 pixels; 3840 Hz; 16-bit grayscale. The specification includes 8.8 kg and 8.6 kg entries with the same heading; verify the applicable configuration before calculating load. Power supply servicing is specified from the rear.
- V2 • NovaStar • V20240122
- 500 × 500 × 78 mm; 7.8 kg; 200 × 200 pixels; 3840 Hz; 16-bit grayscale; maximum/average consumption 720/240 W/m².
- V2 • NovaStar and Brompton • V20241206
- Each control-specific table lists 500 × 500 × 78 mm; 7.8 kg; 200 × 200 pixels; 7680 Hz; 15-bit grayscale; maximum/average consumption 680/230 W/m², with ±15% tolerance. Power-box access is specified from front or rear.
- Signal path
- Video source → compatible LED processor → panel data chain. The processor must match the installed receiving system. Connector appearance does not establish protocol compatibility; verify the actual data and AC connector labels. Do not treat the panel data input as a direct HDMI or SDI video input.
What the system needs
Provide the exact panel revision, receiver model, compatible processor, manufacturer-approved cabinet configuration, pixel map, tested signal cables and suitable electrical distribution. NovaStar and Tessera projects are separate workflows; changing the processor does not by itself convert the installed receiver.
Use the matching mounting hardware and installation documentation. Include panels, frames, cables and accessories in the structural design. This comparison does not authorize a suspended or ground-supported layout.
Prepare the system
- Record label, revision, control platform, firmware and approved configuration. Keep a local backup before changing mapping or receiver parameters. Do not choose an RCFGX file from pixel pitch or scan alone.
- Confirm the processor input, source format and blackout state. Follow the actual panel data direction and patch plan; leave AC connection and distribution checks to qualified personnel.
- NovaStar: compare the detected receiver count and Screen Connection map with the physical chain. Brompton: use Add Fixtures From Network to inspect detected strings on the intended output before associating them on the canvas. Use the installed software's matching documentation.
- During rehearsal, display cabinet labels and a border at suitable brightness. Check image order and solid colors, then return to the intended content. Record results; these are proposed checks, not a physical test of this equipment.
Operating questions
Does 1/20 scan mean the V10 and V2 panels use the same settings?
No. Scan describes the multiplexing ratio, not the receiver model or refresh rate. V10 V20221215 and V2 V20240122 list 3840 Hz, while the V2 V20241206 tables list 7680 Hz. Those numbers do not establish that an older panel can reach the later specification through a software change.
Match the panel revision, receiver and approved file before editing. For Brompton, verify a Tessera-compatible receiver and its fixture definition. Preserve the original NovaStar configuration; do not import it as a Tessera fixture.
A powered cabinet is black or shows the wrong section. What comes first?
Record whether the fault affects one cabinet or the rest of a chain. Inspect accessible data leads and compare the source, blackout state and expected cabinet count. In a planned test, substitute a known-good compatible data lead, changing one item at a time.
NovaStar: inspect receiver detection and Screen Connection before sending parameters. Brompton: inspect fixture detection and association; Show Topology Errors can reveal changes after recabling. Tessera associations do not automatically follow a new physical order. Do not open the panel, reset it or update firmware as the first response.
One repaired module has a different color. Should I erase its calibration?
First show the same solid-color pattern at the same brightness and note which area differs. Record panel/module revision, repair history and whether the difference remains at the same image position when changing the source content. Photograph the symptom and preserve the existing settings for service review.
A public user report raises this question but does not establish a recurring defect or verified fix. Do not erase coefficients, copy another module's calibration or flash repeatedly as a generic remedy. Have the manufacturer or authorized service compare the correct receiver configuration, calibration and replacement-module compatibility.
Symptom and next check
| Observation | Check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Same name, different depth | V10: 88 mm; V2: 78 mm in the cited revisions | Match the label and specification before planning mechanics. |
| Black after recabling | Detected chain and saved mapping/association | Correct the verified route during rehearsal. |
| Uneven color after repair | Revision, repair record and existing calibration | Preserve settings and request a model-specific service assessment. |
Power, environment and installation
The cited 1/20 specifications list AC 100–240 V, IP40 front/IP21 rear and operation from −10 to +40 °C. Use the actual unit's electrical label and applicable manual. These indoor ratings do not establish rain protection; never infer panels per AC chain from an average-power figure.
The V2 manual requires grounding, electrical protection, accessible isolation and AC disconnection before installation or maintenance; it specifies ventilation and at least 0.1 m clearance from other objects. Apply its instructions only to the matching V2 hardware. Have a competent person confirm V10 installation requirements from the applicable documentation before rigging or powering a new layout.
Check frame and hanging/stacking compatibility, complete load and local conditions. Do not infer a safe panel count, outdoor use or load capacity from a brochure maximum. Stop operation for damaged electrical connections, moisture or overheating and have qualified personnel assess the system.
