Charlotte Convention Center: rigging, floors and AV freight N099 | https://glmedia.tech/technical-help/charlotte-convention-center-rigging-pisos-carga/ Charlotte Convention Center is at 501 South College Street in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is operated by CRVA. Identify the exhibit hall, Richardson Ballroom, Crown Ballroom or meeting room; the initials CCC alone do not identify a building. The official guide currently linked by the venue assigns rigging to Encore and utilities to the center. Encore is the preferred AV provider: the guide allows an outside AV provider with patch fees. The published exhibit-level live load is 350 lb/ft²; this is not a wheel load or a suspension rating. Which documents support project planning? The current CRVA website, charlottemeetings.com, links to the Event Planning Guide. Exhibit Level and Ballroom Level drawings supplement layouts and services. These are planning documents; visitor information does not authorize an installation. Event Regulations, Edition 12 of July 2022, adds floor-plan and rigging requirements. It is an earlier dated edition: confirm applicability and contract terms. The currently linked planning guide has no unambiguous editorial revision; file metadata does not establish contractual currency. Who provides rigging, and what needs approval? The guide assigns all rigging services to Encore. Event Regulations section 7.25 requires advance approval by the exclusive provider and a plan showing location, weight and purpose for anything suspended overhead. Scope | Published documentation | Event preparation Overhead rigging | Encore; advance plan approval. | Identify points, complete weights and forces. Richardson and Crown | Structure for sound and lighting equipment subject to an approved plan. | Request individual and aggregate limits; these sheets do not publish them. Outside AV provider | Allowed by the guide, with patch fees. | Separate AV equipment, connections, rigging and contracted operators. Ceiling height and a permanent truss do not establish available rated capacity. Agree on motors, cabling, installation and strike with the venue and Encore. No point plot with WLL or acceptance of this project has been verified. Which floor and freight elevator references are published? Apply each figure only to its stated area and function. Include equipment, carts, people, ballast and protection in the weight. A cab limit does not establish clearance through doors and turns. Area or equipment | Published reference | Pending review Exhibit level | 350 lb/ft² live load. | Concentrated loads, wheels, distribution and route. Freight elevator 1, MLK/Brevard | 13,000 lb. | Assignment, cab, doors and operating weight. Large Crown Ballroom freight elevator | 10,000 lb. | Route to the destination and surface protection. Do not apply the exhibit-floor value to ballrooms, the terrace or meeting rooms. The guide requires protection along carpeted and slate-floor routes; it also prohibits dancing in unison, high-intensity dancing and similar activities in Richardson and surrounding meeting rooms. Confirm any dynamic activity. How should power, audio and networking be coordinated? The center is the exclusive in-house provider of electricity, water and compressed air. The exhibit drawing describes floor boxes at 30 ft intervals with 120 V and 208/120 V services; location does not establish a reserved circuit. Submit demand, phases, connectors, distribution and schedules. Smart City is identified as the exclusive telecommunications provider. Contract an appropriate scope for streaming, control and critical links; complimentary Wi-Fi is not reserved capacity. Agree on house-audio interfaces and patch fees when using an outside AV provider. What must be settled before shipping equipment? Docks are assigned close to the event based on building needs. The current guide lists 19 docks; the Exhibit Level sheet and part of the website list 20. A single count is not confirmed: request the specific dock and door, schedule, dimensions and route. The center does not accept packages on your behalf. The guide directs package handling to the UPS Store, while the regulations distinguish freight handled by a service contractor or drayage company. Arrange a consignee, custody, handling, storage and pickup; a room booking does not establish freight acceptance. What limits apply to fog, pyrotechnics and sound? The guide requires water-based fog and testing by a building engineer. Pyrotechnics require a Charlotte Fire Department permit and a state permit for the operator. Notify the Event Manager; no effect has been shown to be approved for a specific event. For haze, cold sparks or lasers, request the applicable classification and requirements; permission for another technology is not sufficient. Entertainment and loud activities need Event Manager approval, and volume may be regulated to protect concurrent events. Which plans and deadlines need coordination? The guide checklist and Edition 12 request exhibit floor plans 6 months in advance. Edition 12 requires resubmission of a changed final plan at least 14 business days before move-in. Confirm the applicable revision, fire review and contractual schedule. Submit the layout, exits, freight-free aisles, utility-box access, rigging and schedule with time for corrections. Venue review, authority involvement and organizer responsibilities are separate steps. Which differences and decisions remain open? Richardson has 4 divisions in the current guide and website, while one Ballroom Level sheet lists 3. Permanent-truss references and Hall C layouts also differ. Request the current plan and equipment for the contracted space; these figures have not been reconciled by assumption. Document accepted points and forces, floor loads, route, providers and labor, services, effects and approved plans. This guide prepares the discussion: it is not structural engineering, a permit, a reservation or evidence of work performed by GLMedia. Is Encore exclusive for all AV equipment supply? The guide calls Encore the preferred AV provider and allows an outside provider with patch fees. Rigging and other services have separate exclusive scopes; review the event contract. Does 350 lb/ft² authorize a tower or an aerial lift? No. The reference is the exhibit-level live load. Concentrated supports, wheels, operating weight, load distribution, protection and the route still need venue review. Does the Crown sheet establish the capacity of a suspension point? No. Its references to structure and truss do not publish point WLL or accept a system. Request point identification, limits, forces and an approved plan. Document review: October 23, 2026. Currently linked Event Planning Guide: checklist and printed sections 14–21; no unambiguous editorial edition. Event Regulations: Edition 12, July 2022, sections 7.16, 7.17 and 7.25; confirm applicability. Exhibit/Ballroom Level drawings and Space Finder: dock, division and equipment differences recorded.
