Baltimore Convention Center: rigging, floors and services N097 | https://glmedia.tech/technical-help/baltimore-convention-center-rigging-pisos-servicios/ Baltimore Convention Center is at One West Pratt Street, Baltimore. Identify the contracted hall, room and level before designing production. A track, pigeon hole and eye bolt have different conditions; do not interchange their capacities. The 2026 operations guide and rigging document support production planning, but contain different component references and some different deadlines. Confirm the plot, point, load and crew with the Convention Services Manager and Projection. A published capacity does not establish availability or event approval. Which documents should be used? Planning Documents links the operations manual, floor plans and venue provider documents. Separate these policies from an organizer’s exhibition manual. Retain the file, revision and space to which each fact applies. The rigging file includes technical conditions, exceptions and rates with an effective period preceding the version reviewed. Request current contractual terms; this guide publishes no prices and establishes no reservation. Which supports does the rigging document distinguish? The table retains the units and components in the specific rigging document. The general manual states 500 lb per point for Halls A–D, while the rigging sheet specifies 500 lb per 10 ft track section. Confirm distribution, simultaneous loading and the exact point before using either reference. Area and component | Published reference | Interpretation limit Halls A–D: rigging tracks | 500 lb per 10 ft track section. | Do not multiply by the number of hangers without acceptance. Halls B–D: pigeon holes | 1,000 lb per point. | Hall A has no such points; another approved solution is required. Halls E, Swing, F and G: eye bolts | 1,000 lb per point. | Confirm vertical hanging, the point and system loads. Ballrooms I–IV: eye bolts | 1,000 lb per point. | Request the current plot; do not transfer this to meeting-room tracks. Airwall tracks: listed rooms only | 100 lb static reference; maximum 4 points per track. | Confirm how the load applies to the track and assembly; do not assume 100 lb per point. Submit scaled CAD/VWX with point identification, legend, truss, motors, equipment, complete weights and final trim heights. The document does not accept a PDF as a production rigging plot. Request venue DWG/VWX files and acceptance of changes; do not attach to mechanical systems. Which floor loads and supports must be checked? The manual publishes these area load limits. They are not wheel limits or concentrated-load approvals. Submit operating weight, supports, footprints, distribution, protection and the route, including ballast and platforms. Area | Manual reference | Project check Exhibit Hall | 350 lb/ft² | Exact area, concentrated loads and route. Lobbies | 100 lb/ft² | Protection, supports and public circulation. Levels 200, 300 and 400 | 100 lb/ft² | Complete route and load distribution. The manual prohibits propane during move-in and move-out. In carpeted areas it permits only electric forklifts with protection, and requires trained, certified operators. Coordinate acceptance of aerial lifts and rented equipment too; uniform floor loading does not establish permission. Who installs motors, lighting and ground-supported structures? Projection exclusively provides motors and rigging services; IATSE Local 19 performs rigging and theatrical lighting labor within the published scope. Built-in audio has an exclusive operator. This does not establish exclusive supply of all AV equipment. The document separates signs and decorative floor lighting unrelated to presentations or performances. It also distinguishes ground transport or assembly from work requiring certified riggers. These distinctions do not remove labor jurisdictions, inspection or structural responsibility. For ground-supported LED or truss, declare loads, height, structure, ballast and supports. Review conditions depend on the system; agree who supplies, builds, operates, inspects and removes it. Ground support is not a general exemption. How are power, audio, networking and RF coordinated? Edlen exclusively supplies electrical, air, water and drain services; Hospitality Network exclusively provides telecommunications and connectivity. Submit circuit demands and request voltage, phases, connectors, protection, assigned points and production data service. Projection is the preferred AV provider and exclusive house-audio operator. If bringing your own system, define interfaces, operation and contractual scope. The official FAQ assigns outside AV providers responsibility for their own assisted-listening system; confirm coverage and equipment before finalizing the design. The linked frequency sheet identifies dedicated Projection channels that must not be used. Request the current list and coordinate microphones, in-ear monitors and intercom; the older file is not a new assignment or spectrum authorization. For streaming or control, contract networking and test capacity and recovery. Where do equipment and shipments enter? Dock access is on South Charles Street, between the venue and Sheraton, beside Public Safety. Confirm the dock, appointment, maneuvering and receiver with the general contractor. A postal address does not establish an authorized truck route. The manual allows shipments coordinated with CharmCity PASS and requires an available receiver for general-contractor deliveries within the contracted period. The website FAQ says a new business center provider is being developed. Confirm the current service before shipping; do not assume acceptance or storage. Use an authorized freight elevator, not passenger elevators. Compare the complete package with doors, car dimensions, turns and route limits; request an operator and protection. Do not select a truck based on an isolated doorway dimension. What do haze, fog or pyrotechnics require? The manual requires water-based smoke or fog machines and prior BCC approval. Submit the machine, fluid, SDS, location, duration and test plan. Coordinate detection and fire watch without production altering alarms independently. Controlled pyrotechnics require written venue acceptance, a licensed contractor and relevant Baltimore City Fire Department permits; fire watch may be required. Request separate classification and requirements for cold spark, lasers, flame or other effects. Smoke approval is not automatic permission for another effect. Which deadlines must be confirmed in writing? The rigging sheet requests initial plans 45 or more days before the event and final plans at least 21 days before load-in. The manual requires labor requests 30 days before work begins. Keep these milestones separate from quotations, payment terms and system acceptance. For signs, the manual lists 3 weeks under Hang Points and 2 weeks under Décor. Plan with the longer lead time and agree on the applicable schedule. Event floor plans are due 90 days before move-in, with an additional lead time before distribution; later revisions need approval at least 7 business days before first move-in. Keep venue, authority and organizer responsibilities, files and approvals as separate milestones. This guide prepares questions; it does not establish permission, reservation or structural approval by GLMedia. Can I add several points to calculate track capacity? No. The sheet distinguishes track-section capacity from other supports. Request simultaneous loads, distribution, forces and acceptance of the assembly; more hangers do not establish greater capacity. Is a ground-supported structure outside rigging rules? No. The document includes load, height and inspection conditions and, in some cases, overhead support or an engineer-stamped drawing. Submit the actual system and confirm its treatment. Does room rental include all AV equipment and services? Do not assume so. Separate equipment, motors, labor, built-in audio, power, networking and assisted listening. Confirm inventory, reservations and each party’s contractual scope. Document review: October 23, 2026. Operations manual 2026, file identified as July 13, 2026: selected sections read. Rigging file 9.24.26, cover VER:082426: technical and deadline pages reviewed. It includes labor rates effective through June 2026, not published here as current prices. Website sources and frequency sheet reviewed within the stated scope. Not all files or the physical venue were reviewed. Confirm event-specific documents.
